One of the best layouts in SD County and affordable for most anyone. Greens are running 11+ and fairways are good. Needs a lot of attention around the greens though. You miss a green and you have a crappy lie and that's NOT how it should be (tough yes, crappy/no). Bunkers are consistent and good.
Fix your ball mark ya kooks and keep your radios turned down. Oh, and Blue Tees are for low single digit golfers, not beginners or higher handicappers.

First off in the dark & cold, so no issues with pace of play. Check in with Sam, as always smooth and friendly. Not busy at all, but in all fairness, it was still pitch black out when I checked in.

First off in the dark & cold, so no issues with pace of play. Check in with Sam, as always smooth and friendly. Not busy at all, but in all fairness, it was still pitch black out when I checked in.

I did not have any mowed greens, but despite this, they weren't too bad. Lots of debris from the trees with the winds they had over night. Fairways were reasonably decent, some thin areas, but generally adequate coverage. The bunkers were much better than expected, although the sand was still soaked from the recent rains.

The areas adjacent to the fairways had lots of muddy spots. But otherwise the course handled the weekend rainfall rather well. Enjoyed the round, but it was very cold, which made me extra pleased I walk the course.

Last minute decision to play Oceanside. Out first in the dark at 6:15am on a cool morning, but it warmed up nicely by the back nine. Obviously pace of play was not an issue UNTIL we were approaching the par 5 14th hole. There was a threesome of guys with pull carts walking off #16, but instead of going to #17, they just walked over to #14 and teed off right in front of us. We yelled at them but they just ignored us and were angry that we protested their cutting right in front of us. WTF ! Bear in mind that there was nobody anywhere near behind us and they could have waited, but no, they were upset that we were upset. I give up. The greens were very good ! However they will be punching them tomorrow October 6th. Fairways better than they've been. The greenside bunkers, while not prefect were some of the better bunkers I've seen. Plenty of well maintained sand. Tee boxes/rough were just OK Staff is fantastic here, which is one of the reasons I frequent this course. Plus it's a fun track to play and provide enough challenge while affording some good birdie holes.

Out pre-dawn in the dark. Obviously no issues with pace on the front nine, and didn't catch the back nine players until 18, so it worked out well. Nice mild temperatures, even at 5:45am, however very humid. Can not imagine how it would have felt if there had been sun.

I thought the course was in decent condition. Greens were receptive and rolled well, although not as nice as the last time i played here some weeks ago, Fairways for the most part were good, with plenty of coverage, although there are some brown/bare areas. Greenside bunkers were well maintained with plenty of sand. Since I played all the way back on the tee boxes, ignoring the markers, that portion of the tee box were still in pretty good shape and generally level.

Sam, in the shop is always great and one of the reasons I frequent this course. While this course will not please everyone, it fits my eye and my game and continues to be one of my "go to" courses.

Played yesterday, Sunday. Online teetime $40, plus $12 for the cart. 1:20teetime. Younger guy in the proshop was all alone, crazy. He was staging carts, working the register and answering the phone. Hard working kid, wow. Had to wait a little bit for our cart, but no big deal. POP was about 4.5hrs. We waited quite a bit, especially on the back nine. But, overall, not too bad for a weekend.

Teeboxes remain an issue, just unlevel and bumpy. Tough to find a perfect spot, but they weren't a total disaster.

Found one bunker and it was just fine. Amazing they can keep these things in this condition without the rakes.

Fairways were still very good to excellent. There was some brown and dead patches occasionally, but 80% of the fairways were darn near perfect. I had a lot of great lies.

Rough is really not a problem here, easy to find your ball and advance. Otherwise it's in the dirt patches and turf reduction areas.

Greens were very receptive and soft. They putted well for the most part, but they were getting bumpy.

Saw beverage cart once.

Overall, had a great time. I thoroughly like this course layout and always have a good time at Oside.

Played this past Saturday and teed off a little before 7. I must be getting nostalgic because this is another course the last time I played predates joining GK. Needless to say father time has killed a few of my brain cells and I don't remember much of the course. But I did remember the uphill par 4 and uphill might be an understatement.

Greens were way too overwatered. I get we are in the middle of this heat but we had a couple balls plugged on their approach shot. Obviously the greens were very very soft. I'm a heavy set guy (ok I'm fat) and I felt bad walking on the green because my footprint were all over the green. The pace was just ok, not really fast and not really slow.

Fairways and rough are about the same and you'll probably have a lot of different lies throughout the day. Wet grass, dry grass, hardpan, dirt, weeds, gopher holes are just some of the lies you may get during your round. Side note did have a friendly encounter with a snake about 15 ft from my ball on 14. I found out I can't hit a ball with my eyes looking out of the back of my head.

I was in one bunker and the sand looked like dirt. It's a really dark color sand. It actually played good though. I was able to thump it and get some spin on that.

I read a lot of reviews that talk about unlevel tee boxes and always thought those were picky but these tee boxes are in need of some serious leveling. Might be the worst set of tee boxes I've encountered in recent memory.

After playing I remember why I don't come here. Just an odd course in my opinion and not my particular cup of tea. I'm not a huge fan of in course OB markers because to me if you need those then that was a poorly designed hole. When you say "muni" this is what I picture. It's cheap, $40 walking on a weekend is certainly attractive. But the course leaves a lot to be desired and a little too far for me to justify.

PLayed yesterday, 8/14 tee off at 1:20. $35 online rate and then an extra $12 ea for the cart. So $47 total. POP was just fine at 4.25hrs, we were a little on the slow side playing with the wives and all(they like to chat and take their time,ugh).

Course is in about as good of condition as I've ever seen it. About the only thing lacking was the teeboxes, they were a little uneven with divot damage so you needed to take and extra few seconds to fine a good spot.

Fairways were darn near perfect in all the areas that you should've been. They were soft and mowed perfectly, offering a an appropriate little roll out and great hitting surface to hit your next shot.

Greens were fabulous!! They were a little on the wet side, so they held shots very well (my brother's shot into 9 stuck in it's own pitch mark). Yet, they were still very quick and held perfect lines.

Rough is rather non existant any longer on most holes. It gets high on a few holes, but for the most part it's not a problem to hit from or you are in some dirt areas where they did the turf reduction.

Found one bunker and it was just fine. A little damp and compact, but no problem getting out.

Course is playing fantastic right now. They are fixing the teebox issues it looks like, so if they keep up the rest of the course in this condition, it should be playing very well for awhile. Get on out there!!!

Early out on a very mild, although very humid morning. Fantastic service from Sam in the pro shop. He is such a pleasure to deal with to begin the day.

Course continues to be in nice condition, particularly the greens. Even the fairways are green and lush, with lots of coverage. Sure, the rough has some issues, and the areas with the "turf reduction" can be a bit distracting and unsightly, but in theory you shouldn't be in those areas in the first place.

I never walk off this course displeased. A fun layout, reasonably priced, decent condition, great staff. If I lived closer, I'd be out here all the time.

Played on 7/7 with my regular senior group.

Greens: better than average condition, most are firm, smooth and medium speed.

Fairways: very good condition.

Played on 7/7 with my regular senior group.

Greens: better than average condition, most are firm, smooth and medium speed.

Fairways: very good condition.

Traps: no rakes available but they were raked at the start of the day. You will have to play "winter rules" in the traps.

Tees: many are not level due to old animal burrows.

Rough: 1-3" high with some bare spots but after 15 feet from the fairway you are in the DG.

POP: 4 hours.

Range is open. No snack bar service till around 10 AM. Seating is available outside on the patio after your round. Great deal if you are an Oside senior resident.
