Using the killer UnderPar deal (4 players, unlimited play for $99 total!), we gathered some GK'ers together today. Played with Itslikeimsayin, robule and nachosgrande and we had fun on a very long 54-hole day. We started on Valley at 6:22 (teeing off closer to 6:30. It was packed out there on both courses all morning, but we enjoyed a nice 3.5-hour pace. Later in the day (about 5:00), we played our third round on Valley again. Nobody out there, so we played quick and finished in under 3 hours.

From tee to green, the course conditions were nice. It was interesting to see the different look in the early morning light with moisture on the ground compared to late in the day. It definitely appears more lush and green in the morning and then dries out as the day wears on. Still, good conditions overall. Great tee boxes. Fairways had good coverage. The final 3 on Valley had just been resodded, so those were a little weaker than the rest of this course. Rough was thick and lush throughout—sometimes penal, sometimes friendly. Bunkers a bit mixed. The greens were firm. They had been rolled, but were still on the slow side and sometimes a little bumpy (especially in the later round).

I personally think these courses are somewhat underrated as solid mid-level Coachella Valley options. At the right place (say $25 for unlimited golf), they are worth a look. Definitely the epitome of Ted Robinson design style with plenty of water (and fancy water features) in play. Valley greens have some pretty pronounced tiers and it's a fun overall layout that provides challenge while still allowing for plenty of good scoring opportunities.

Played here on an Under Par special. Got on about 10:10, and it was starting to get hot. The golf course is in really good condition, except the greens, they are healing right now.
The fairways are firm and tightly mowed. The rough was a bit long nearly 2-3". If you get in there, it takes a good whack to advance your ball a good distance. The golf course is pretty wide open, so errant shots are easier to recover from to the green. The bunkers are firmly packed, but good quality sand.
The Greens! Wow!! where they slow, they just aerated probably about 1-2 weeks ago. they had sand filled. If you are us to slow muni type greens, you'll be okay. they did roll true, but WOW are they slow!
I would play this course again, in fact I play 36 on Saturday. I think they had great customer service; easy bag drop and pick up zone. Many employees there have been there for some 20 years or more.

Played 10/3. MDS Valley is a resort course in the desert, not a desert course. The facilities and staff are very nice. The course was in very good condition, very green and plush right before their fall maintenance. A few areas were undergoing some emergency maintenance. In all, course was very nice

Also played Indian Canyon South the same day. MDS is a tougher course, greener, but not as much fun as ICS. Both courses are well worth it though.

Played 9-11-16. Took advantage of an UP deal for a 4some. The course is in good shape. The fairways were very fluffy which made them soft to hit off but didn't give much roll. Fairways are narrow and critical to hit. Bunkers were varied from soft to hard pack so no consistency! The greens made the round almost unbearable. The slowest greens I have played in many years. Not a course I would look to play again.

Played on February 14, 2016. course, staff, layout, everything was great. Not overly crowded. Solid 3:45 round. Beautiful day; 88 defrees and sunny. Very little wind.

Checked in no problem and got to practice for a few minutes prior to playing (we were running a bit late compared to what i like). Check in staff was great, as were staff members that loaded up our carts. Cart girl came around 3 times, and was quite pleasant.

Tee bixes were all lush and level. The fairways were nearly flawless. Rough was filled in, but not overly long. Sand traps were fluffy and filled with abundant sand. Greens were rolling very nicely, but were somewhat on the slow side.

All in all, i highly recommend Desert Springs (The JW). It is a great golf resort that deserves more accolades than it seems to get online.

Tougher than average resort course. Open off the tee, some bunkering on the dog-legs, moderate (and deep!) bunkering around the greens. Greens are on the smaller side with distinct portions. Miss your spots and 3-putts come into play. Tough up and downs if you short side yourself. Second time playing here and that's what sticks in my mind. Also, great views playing back towards Mt. San Jacinto. The teeth in this course comes in the form of longer par-threes and the depth of the bunkers/complexity of the greens.

Conditions-wise, generally immaculate with green, green grass throughout. Tees were perhaps a bit shaggy but flat as pancakes. Fairways: all carpet lies with minimal divot damage. Rough: juicy and healthy and tough to find ball until you were on top of it. Sand: perfect, white stuff with plenty of coverage. Greens were a tad slow for my taste but bobble-free. All in all great quality and fun challenges for the 82 bucks I paid. And course was empty which I always appreciate, from a selfish standpoint.

I rolled into the Palm Springs area in the late morning on Wednesday and booked a $15 tee time at The Valley Course after noon. I wasn't expecting much, but boy was I pleasantly surprised. The course was in good shape from tee to green, and the greens were terrific. Its a nice resort layout on which there is plenty of room to hit driver on most holes. I had a great time buzzing around the course in less than two and a half hours as a single. What a deal!

Played Sunday 7/20 @ 11am as a 2some and finished in about 3 hrs. Not many people starting their round in late morning this day so pace was excellent. Overall condition was good but many brown out spots within 50 yds of tee box did not add to visual appeal. Although fairways were mostly green, there were enough burnout spots to affect play. Course also has gone more "shaggy" overall in an attempt to reduce burnout. Greens looked ok but were slow. Still very puttable except for short downhill putts which could not hold the line. With a deal, value for dollar is excellent but understand its middle of summer in PS. Still recommended but I'd probably choose to play Palm course instead.
