Greens in great shape. The poana was blooming a little which caused an occasional wobble, but over all in really good shape. Course is in really good shape over all. Get out there !

The bermuda fairway's have grown in and greened up. Mostly complete coverage and played great. Good roll and decent cushion under ball.
Greens were great. Rolled mostly true and had good pace to them at medium fast. Held shots well.
They have been replacing sand in some traps. The new sand ones are very good. The older are hard pan.
Typical Mt. Woodson T boxes. Some good some bad.
Over all in very good shape and definitely recommend to all Woodson fans.

Played 3/4/18 1 pm $40 POP 3.30 The deep frost a couple of weeks ago have really sent the course into winter conditions. There are some slight green rough areas and the fairway's still have a slight greenish color left from when they colored it a few weeks ago, but other then that, everything is dormant. Fairway's are tight with lots of run. The Tee shot of #13 is a tough one. You have to aim at the large trap all along the left and hope the ball kicks right a little. If you aim for the fairway the ball will run all the way into the junk on the right. Greens were in very good to great shape. They have been renovating some of the bunkers of the front 9 with new shapes & new sand. They are planning on Aerating the greens on the 12th & 13th of next week.

Played out here today (10:56 TeeOff.com "Deal" time) with Sr714 for our GK Cup match. Sent out by ourselves as the third twosome to tee off in a row. Later a marshall told us that never should've happened, but we ended up playing by ourselves the whole round. Pace was slow but not agonizing. Around 5:00 total. Mostly cloudy skies, a little windy and sorta chilly.

Greens are pretty good, about medium speed to medium-fast. They have some imperfections here and there, but good for the most part. The course looks fantastic when spotted from the street! However, we'd learn that's because the fairways are dyed green. They played really nicely and the dye job is the most convincing one I've ever seen...not that weird artificial bluish-green you see sometimes. Rough was a little spottier, but dormant grass, clumps of crab grass, etc. I was in one bunker and it was fantastic...lots of loose, soft sand. Tee boxes decent. There's a spot of roped-off GUR greenside on the 7th hole that's sort of weird, just pure dirt between the bunker and the green. My ball ended up in it, and dropping outside of it then necessitated a very difficult chip over the dirt. Hopefully they fix that soon.

2/2 birthday round $15 cart fee--easy check in and friendly welcome--off on time 900 with a 420 POP. Fairways have a tight turf--generally good lies--firm but with adequate cushion--some areas appear faded but still in good shape. Rough is mostly thin and more on the brown dormant side--some bare areas close to the wild vegetation and underbrush. Tees have ok cover some have a little slope that may come into play depending on marker placement.
Bunkers have a mix of sand all good quality but the replacement sand is still soft and fluffy requiring a different swing. The older sand is just about perfect with the right depth and consistency. Fairway bunkers have a nice firm surface so the ball sits up quite well.
The work on the bunkers is indicative of the effort to add and maintain the quality of the course.
Greens were a deep green and healthy rolling about medium speed or little faster on those that are more exposed and dried out. They have a little more grain quality and some were a little bumpy. Still over all they are in nice shape and as indicated by the pro-shop the did not aerate this summer/fall but plan to in March.
Really interesting layout with a good mix of shorter and long holes with a tight character offering plenty of challenge. Greens vary in size and have some sharp contours as well as sneaky slopes. Many are well defended by bunkers. Oh yes another setting where the prevailing topography is a definite factor.
A challenging 5800 from the blues with plenty of elevation changes and water hazards with plenty of canyons under brush bordering the holes.

I played yesterday joined by rudyclub. I used the birthday deal of $12 cart fee. The guys in the pro shop were so friendly and it was no problem that I had forgotten to bring the printed voucher with me. This was my third time playing here and it was, without any doubt, the best conditions I’ve ever seen here. The fairways were lush with hardly any brown spots. There were quite a few divots along the way but none that affected my lies. The tee boxes were not all level and had lots of divots but again, no problem. I was in two bunkers. One was very damp but both had plenty of sand. The greens were awesome. They were so soft that ball marks were really deep but it seemed the players before us did a good job of repairing theirs because I found very few other than my own to fix. The greens are challenging with some hard to see breaks and a good medium fast speed. This is such a fun course. It’s short but definitely challenging with its target style layout. That, combined with the beautiful scenery, has made Mt. Woodson a favorite. If it was closer I’d play it a lot more often. Highly recommended .

9/25 using GK $25 coupon--easy 415 POP. Fairways are 95% lush with minimal thin areas. Nice cushion--never had a bad lie from the fairway. Rough about 1 inch along fairways a little longer around the greens. Tees level with good cover where the markers were placed.
Bunkers have fine compacted sand that is well maintained and consistent through out the course.
Greens were almost immaculate smooth and rolling true medium fast to fast with subtle breaks that for me were were hard to see--some pin placements were wicked --greens firm but receptive to well struck approach shots.
Layout is scenic and challenging with premium on accuracy as wayward shots are severely punished by the trees and rocks.
Friendly helpful staff.

Caused and couple of bumps, but mostly ran well at medium fast. Was told they may not aerate the greens this fall? Fairway's in really good shape. Bunkers poor and a couple of T's in typical Mt. Woodson shape, but over all in great shape. Great GK deal for Monday's $25

Shot gun start and still enough light to just get the 9 in. I'm still impressed how much this course has improved with the new ownership. Course is in really good shape and fun to play. Bunkers still suck and some T boxs need work. They have closed a couple and have flattened and replaced turf so they are working on them. One of my favorite twilight courses in San Diego to play. If you haven't played here in a while it's worth a trip.
