Made it out this morning with the early risers. 6:30AM and we walked El Cariso in just under 4 hrs, with no push from the group in carts behind us. Apparently this course is under new management and it showed. The greens are ideal right now, which you probably can't believe, but trust me they rolled pure and had some legit quickness to them. The tee boxes are in good shape, maybe a little uneven in spots, and the rough is well maintained. The sand needs to be replaced, but my one bunker shot was in some soft playable mix of dirt and sand.

So, you can read a lot about this course and much of it is negative, and it would turn you away. I believe this course is on the right track and will continue to improve. Its a solid executive layout, and with the greens being the way they were today, and the ability to play fast, I will be back.

I play here 2-3x a month and the course has never been in better shape. The fairways are like carpet for the most part lush (you can always find a bare spot or 2), greens are smooth and rolling fast. Pace of play is usually in the 4 to 4.5 pace. Good amount of sand in green side bunkers.

Played 1-29-26 on a cold early morning walking as a single in a little over 2 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were not in the best of shape with some bare and thin spots, some divot damage on par threes and a few of the other holes and some needing a bit of leveling. Fairways were nice. Played 1-29-26 on a cold early morning walking as a single in a little over 2 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were not in the best of shape with some bare and thin spots, some divot damage on par threes and a few of the other holes and some needing a bit of leveling. Fairways were nice. They had decent roll out with nice lies, with some very minor blemishes on a few. Rough was in good shape, about an inch longer than fairways and easy to hit from. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that were well groomed with a good layer of white sand. Greens as almost always were in great shape. They were rolling smooth and true at medium/fast pace and playing a little on the soft side. Overall course is in good winter condition and well worth playing. Highly recommend.

Accepted a gracious invite from dconnally to play nine holes here this afternoon along with TomHooter. We played Course 1, which fittingly begins right below the clubhouse next to the practice putting green. Our time wasn’t until 3:24 but we teed off maybe 8-10 minutes early. Despite waiting on the group in front of us pretty much all afternoon, pace was pretty good and we fini... » More

Accepted a gracious invite from dconnally to play nine holes here this afternoon along with TomHooter. We played Course 1, which fittingly begins right below the clubhouse next to the practice putting green. Our time wasn’t until 3:24 but we teed off maybe 8-10 minutes early. Despite waiting on the group in front of us pretty much all afternoon, pace was pretty good and we finished nine in about two hours flat, with just enough sunlight. There was no one behind us, but maybe one or two more groups could’ve finished if there had been.

Conditions are very nice! White tee boxes were all great, no issues. Fairways had uniform coverage of healthy green turf, providing nice lies. The rough also has good coverage and is 2-3 inches in most areas but deeper in a few rare spots. I was in a couple bunkers and they were in good condition with more sand than it felt like there was, if that makes sense. The greens were mostly smooth, medium to medium-fast speed, and very accepting of well-struck shots. As you might expect so late in the day, there were quite a few unfixed ball marks, but nothing terrible.

Course 1 is the longest of the three nines and is comprised of three par 3s, three par 4s, and three par 5s. From the white tees, the par 3s could use more variety in distance, but otherwise no complaints. The par 4s and 5s on this nine are very nice with a good mix of elevation changes and doglegs. I liked it quite a bit! Great times with David and Tom! Thank you for the invitation, David.

Conditions much improved from my last visit. Still some soggy areas but rough has been mowed but still thick and the fairways have dried out. Greens are fast, receive well struck shots well and the traps are nearly perfect.
