Played many rounds on Canyon recently with Mountain greens punched. Course is in very nice shoulder season condition. Greens sanded but so far not punched this season. Barely affects anything but the way the greens look from afar after a couple days. Firm, smooth and medium quick, they putt nicely. Many areas of the course have been vericut, which does not affect playability. Bermuda coming out well on the Tee's/fairways, very lush. Rough patchy hit/mniss, mowed low. Mowed low around the greens, you can definitely use putter from well off greenws currently. Which when going over large mounds to a firm, quick green is frequently a safer play IMO. Course playing firm/quick producing ridiculously long drives currently. Nice range, carts, GPS. Good restaurant onsite. highly recommended.

Greens were punched/sanded about 10 days ago, medium speed and bumpy. I rarely have any complaints here, but felt the need to call the pro shop this week when I found out my out of state guest was charged $148 at my guest rate to play on punched/sanded greens. Making the experience even worse was being scheduled to play a front 9 on Mountain with punched, medium slow, bumpy greens and then transitioning to a back 9 on Canyon with unpunched but sanded quick/smooth greens. Literally the same 30' putt that was 4' short on the front would suddenly be rolling 4' by on the back. Not only did I find the rate ridiculous. Also thought it was extremely poor planning/judgment to split scheduled 9's between courses that played so differently. And was very unhappy they were charging the same guest rate for both courses, so we played nothing but Canyon to play on good greens the rest of the week.

Fairways/Tees very nice with the Bermuda out in full force with warmer temps. Greenside traps really nice, fairway traps have more rocks than I remember from years ago. Fringes mowed down, which is not a good thing on the many holes with false fronts or drop offs from on or coming across greens. But do provide more bump run opportunities when short sided from just off many greens. Many areas of the course have been vericut, which does not affect playability. Rough patchy hit/miss, mowed low. Range, carts, GPS excellent. Restaurant/men's lounge provides decent food in a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended overall in spite of the above. But still a week away from all 18 greens being medium fast/smooth again.

Played here this AM. Set along the Napa River wetlands it opened in 1967. The setting though in CA reminds me of many of the courses you will find in Upstate NY or VT (and many other states) with the many trees and foliage and setting in a large parkland of property with no homes anywhere.

Found the tee boxes all playble.

Traps are clean and playable though some more sand would not hurt IMO.

Fairways are clean and provide good lies and roll out. Many of them have wetlands running along them so hitting the fairway is important. And many have large pine and redwoods lining them as well.

Greens are an odd mixture of small and large. And when I say "large" I don't mean like Rustic Canyon. Just larger than the small ones. Your iron and wedge game need to be on for a high GIR on this course.

Its great that they provide an excellent course guide, as carts do not have GPS. I played with a local who was extremely helpful in providing me info on the greens being this was my first time here.

Carts are functional but that's about2 it. And while some of the cart paths are good, there are some that will rock you.

Actually this course is layed out such that walking would not be an issue.

Small clubhouse and small grill attached to that. Free coffee though which was appreciated.

If you are in the Napa area and not staying at Silverado then play here. I don't think you will be disappointed.

And the 18th finishing hole will make you think all the way to the tiny green guarded by bunkers.

Greens are all in good shape and chip/putt just fine. All elevated from the fairways and bunker guarded. One needs a high iron and wedge game from the fairways to score well here.

Rough is kept high and it is always difficult to play from.

Great customer service from Tom in the shop and the prices in the restaurant are terrific.

Great course to play and it is not on the AFB so public have access. Recommended.

Rumor is Wednesday morning is a skins group thing, seems to effect POP . Handy bathroom at 4/16/17 area, beverage cart out and about2 and saw a Marshall on occasion. Long hitters might not reach for a fairway wood as Jurupa has only 2 par 5's and under 6k yards @ mens tees. Slipped in the sand a few times but still stayed on the dance floor, sand being thin and hard under! Fun narrow track mostly, mature tree lines, slope is always a shot factor. Small well outfitted Proshop, oldschool snack bar/resturant and a nice seperate lounge/bar on premises. Gonn'a keepthis one in my rotation.
