Played today on a beautiful golf morning. Course is exceptionally maintained for a public course. Better than some private courses IMO.

Fast easy check in and found the playing conditions top notch.

Fairways are lush with great lies and roll and are wide enough unless you get really wild.

Rough is kept 1/2 in thick and you can find your ball but you will need a really good shot to overcome playing from there.

Traps are all nicely maintained with just the right amount of sand to produce good results.

Greens are HUGE. Still getting used to them and finding the right landing spots depending upon where the flags are placed. Easy to 3 putt with greens like this but also makes one a better putter the longer you play them.

Excellent customer service from all staff encountered.

Still the best 9 holes for 18 bucks in the IE. A couple bucks cheaper if you're a city resident.

Very lush fairways right now after the rains, but expect some bumpy or unlevel teeboxes. #6 was closed due to a big fairway flood. An enjoyable walk anytime I'm near downtown Riverside, most of the greens are tiny and flat but don't leave it above the hole on #2 or #9.

Played yesterday, March 31. 3:10 teetime. $44 twilight rate walking. POP was great, just over 4hrs, we finished 18 in pretty much total darkness. Hit it and pray. Miracle that all four of us made it on that final hole without losing our ball.

Green teeboxes were moved up for the most part. They were doing quite a bit of work on the back tee boxes. They were fairly level and had decent coverage. A few of them were beat up, but no huge complaints overall.

Fairways were pretty good. Nice coverage all over with good cushion. Lots of sand filled divots. I did find a small unfilled divot on hole 7, but that landing area is loaded with divots as it's a very popular spot to be in. It was an impossible lie in a super small deep divot that caused me a double bogey as I dumped into the hazard area to the right of the cart path and almost broke my back, lol.

Rough was minor. Not very long and easy to play from. No worries there.

Sand traps had good fluffly brown sand, but lots of crab grass around the edges. They don't look that great, but played fine.

Greens were a mixed bag. Tons of ball marks that were mostly fixed, but just not fixed well enough. They were fairly smooth and very quick downhill/sidehill. Got bumpy and slower as the day progressed picking up the evening moisture and had some misty air.

Customer service was just fine. Starter is always nice here and saw the beverage cart twice.

Overall, not a huge fan of the course. Holes 4,5 and 7 are just awful which just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Friendly tip, if you're walking, make sure you get a restroom code from the starter!!!

Played in group 1B of Monday’s Golf Moose/GK/Vivid Golf event here with Johnny, Ron, and Richie. Great to meet Richie and always fun with Ron and John. Chilly early morning temps turned into perfect golf weather, probably low 70s and a little breeze (although the hazy cloud cover didn’t make for the best picture-taking). POP good for these events at a little under 5 hours, despite the entire course being Cart Path Only.

Conditions are very nice! These greens are sneaky FAST! The 5th hole pin placement was in a spot toward the back of the green where if you were above the hole and missed the putt long, you literally rolled all the way off the front of the green. Believe me, I learned the hard way. ;-) When putts started breaking, they really kept sliding, so you had to read a lot of break. Interestingly, the slope on the greens is more subtle rather than featuring big undulations. They were medium firmness and rolled very smooth. Seemed like our participants did a good job of fixing ball marks because I saw very few. Fairways had been freshly cut in the morning and still provided just the right amount of cushion under the ball; great coverage all around. The rough wasn’t deep but was a bit grabby in some spots, putting a premium on hitting the fairway. Blue tee boxes were mostly good. All the bunkers I was in had really nice, soft sand in great condition.

This was my first time here and going in, I severely underestimated the quality of this course. I really enjoyed it a lot! There’s a lot more ground movement and elevation changes than I expected. It’s quite attractive, too, tucked in-between hills in Calabasas. The course is not long but it’s not easy, either. It would be a really fun course to play when you’re playing well with a hot putter, because tee to green is not too difficult but the greens provide a stout defense. I played terribly almost all day and really hope to get another chance to play here. Huge thanks to Golf Moose/Johnny for setting up and running such great events.
