Played 3-26-26 early morning walking as a single in about 2 1/2 hours, with the course pretty much to myself except for a few maintenance workers. Overall course is in good condition right now. Good coverage on tee boxes with level stance. Fairways mostly green and semi-lush with nice lies and decent roll out. Rough playing about 2 inches and lush. Bunkers had nice white sand and were well groomed. Greens were in really good shape, rolling smooth at medium pace and playing semi-soft. Highly recommend.

Played 3/28/26 1:30 POP 4 +. A very busy Sat. Waited on many shots but overall not too bad. Course was in over all good to great shape. They punched the greens a couple weeks prior. Most had remnant signs of the punching and coupled with the Poana grass, they were on the bumpy side. They were extremely soft. It was actually difficult to not have the ball stop quickly, even on chips & pitches. Very fun to see your shots spin back. I had one shot plug in the green. They were running on the slow side. They should be completely healed in another week or so. I noticed a couple of small dead spots near the fringes on a couple of greens, but most had great full coverage. Fairways have grown in well and were lush & green (Not Paint). Ball sat nice with decent roll out. Tees & traps were the typical trouble spot. Many tee placements had no flat spots to hit from on this day and traps were mostly firm. Greens will improve quickly. Still my favorite twilight course in SD. Although I have heard that they have done away with twilight rates, which really sucks if true. They continue to clear and clean many of the overgrown areas and the course is looking fantastic and continues to improve. New carts with interactive GPS. A definite recommend.

This is the time of year they lower it, which does not keep offline shots on the course but it is easier to play out of if the ball actually stops in it. Sand traps well maintained. Greens are firm and you have to play for roll out. This time of year, you better know which holes not to miss above the hole. Otherwise, the front fringe or back in the fairway will be your next shots location after your putt whizzes by the hole downhill with no stopping in sight. Excellent carts/GPS, fine customer service.
On a personal note, started playing in the men's club events and they do not play any tees past Gold. Half the Gold tees are 1 tee box in front of where I have always played. You would not think 1 tee box on 9 holes makes a huge difference? It does, both on the sight lines and the amount of trouble it either takes out of play... or brings into play...lol. Still learning what clubs to hit from those tees. Bottom line is that my declining game was ready for a 300 yard decrease in overall course length. #5 in particular the difference is huge... instead of a 180 yard carry over water to a diagional fairway, I can bump an iron down the fairway with no water to carry and be closer to the green than I could ever achieve from the Green tees.

This is about the time of year the greens speed up because of the firmness. And as has happened in previous golf seasons, lag putts I think are good leave 4-6' coming back. Practice facitilies excellent. 2 putting greens, 2 practice chippings greens with sand traps. Only complain would be that often the range is set us to limit shots based on maximum distance, which may prohibit Drivers for some players. Decent restaurant for a golf course. Customer service in the Pro shop and with the outside staff has been excellent this golf season. Layout is very spread out, so you rarely see a walker. Nice carts with very good GPS. Highly recommended.
Began playing the Gold tees because of men's club events. #4 the difference is huge... instead of a short, uphill par 4 that I was having more and more difficulity just reaching the fairway with anything less than a 90% drive... it added another driveable par 4 to the mix of holes moving me up 75 yards and taking most of the forced carry over trees out of play.

Following on Weber's recent review, I was out Friday 3/27 as a threesome plus one, all riding, three of four playing the whites. I'll differ only slightly with his review so check his first. I have to say the course seemed about as lush as it gets here. Could even use a touch of mowing on some fairways, but good lies and no complaints. I was in two bunkers and I think it was less about lack of sand than lack of grooming and surface anomalies. Some rake time smoothing things out and I think the actual sand quality would work fine. But somebody has to actually do that. Rough was good, not overly thick or penalizing. Surrounds were good enough for short game and the greens were as green as I see them here. For what it was worth, some in our group were complaining about the speed (slow). I thought they were a lazy medium and while I might like them quicker, I thought they were still an acceptable pace. The key being they seem to match the practice green and were fairly consistent on the course. After an introduction to the pace, the challenge is to adjust. I played recently when the greens were much quicker, and I like that, but I adjusted for the difference and enjoyed myself. It's a muni guys.

Being Friday probably didn't help the pace and it seemed longer than usual at about 5.25hrs. I'm pretty chill about getting along with whomever I'm paired with on the course, but it was day when I definitely enjoyed the course more than my companions — and the ambiguity of that statement works both ways.
