This was my first stop on my AZ golf weekend. I wanted a walking 9-hole course to help stretch out after the long drive. I found Viewpoint on GK but they were unable to take me due to some kind of event. I asked a few players there for any recommendations and 3 people all said to try Royal Palms which is only a few miles away. It wasn't on GK. I later asked Johnny to add it so I could review it. When I arrived I could see it was crowded, with quite a few groups lined up at the first tee. I wasn’t in any hurry so I decided to go for it. They don’t have a range but have nets, two large putting greens and a nice bunker/chipping practice area. The guy in the clubhouse was very nice. He said the starter was out sick that day so just fall in line. I chatted with many of the players while waiting, then paired up with Chris and Austin who were behind me. The course is so nice. It’s in fantastic shape. The fairways are lush, the sand was white and clean (except for a couple bunkers under trees.) The greens were smooth but a little slow. As expected on a short course, the tee boxes were a bit chewed up on the par 3’s but the par 4’s were pretty clean. There is water on 5 holes with some severe slope towards it in a few places. There were a couple of completely blind dangers, but fortunately one of the players in line had warned me of them. There are power lines overhead which don’t look pretty but I have to admit I like the sound that’s made when they get hit. We finished in 2 hours but I knew it would be slow. I really enjoyed this course and recommend it.
