Rams Hill! Guess I forgot to say. Was so surprised you played there I figured I was following the same thread! Awesome round Jim! Got me by 15 strokes! At least I putted well. Several 1 putts but usually for bogie or double! Only thing that makes me think maybe you were there Saturday was 18 had the pin up front.

I don't know about Saturday but they had the pins in some diabolical places. Every par 3 had the pin tucked behind a bunker with no green to work with. It was scary and I just avoided them by playing away from danger. Cost a few strokes right there. Was only in 1 trap and got out fine. Sand was soft and perfect!

I was there (Ram's Hill) on Friday, the first day of the pre-opening (see my review). Lots of twosomes going out . . . and the pin on 18 on Friday was tucked all the back on the last shelf. Most pins were in places I had never seen before (pin position 1).

Had a great day at PGA West playing the Nicklaus Tournament course yesterday. I started keeping track of Lost/Wasted Shots this round just to see what it would look like on the card and its quite interesting to look back.

The first hole of the day I made a double bogey after hitting a poor sand shot that barely got out of the trap. I counted that as a LS. I then rattled off 5 straight pars with with a lot of two putts. Add in a birdie at 7 I was sitting at 1 over. Then comes the typical poor hole after a birdie. The 8th is a par 3 over water and I pushed my shot to the right pin high but found the water for a LS. Knocked my drop about 30 ft past the hole (hit the down slope) and three putted for a triple. The 9th pin was tucked in the back corner close to the 18th pin (joined green) and my approach was as far away as possible without being off the green. Made the turn at 41. not bad but the last two holes hurt.

Back nine was very good with a bogey on 10 (LS on green side bunker). Made birdie on 14 with a putt from 10 ft off the green that slammed into the pin and dropped. Followed the birdie with a 300 yard bomb that found the lake, I took my drop where it went out and hit my 4 iron 210 just right of the island green bounced off the bridge and splash. Chipped on and made a 7. Coming down the last hole I knew I needed something decent to break 80 but didn't count my score to know exactly. I pulled my approach a touch left and into the sand. I blasted my sand shot real high to clear the lip and hit the pin stopping 4 inches away for a tap in sandy. I got back to the cart and BOOM 79!

Over all it was a great day. 41-38=79 I hit 11 FIR, 9 GIR, made 20 putts on the front and 12 on the back for 32 putts and per my opinion only 5 wasted shots. Also having only 5 bogey or worse is a absolute win in my book. There is something about PGA west courses that I seem to score well. I've now shot 79 on both the Stadium and the Nicklaus courses playing the blue/white combos. Now to figure out how to keep ball in play on the Norman course with no rough to stop balls from going into the crap.

Played 18 at our local Bear Mountain course today- last day of the season for the course. It was in pretty good condition and the fairways were rolling well. Which is probably how I shot my longest drive in forever: 224 yds. Actually had a pretty good round overall which was nice because I lost my swing sometime in early September and have been working on getting it back. Its almost all the way back! YeeHaw!
