Please post all GK Cup 16 team match results here using the following template:

Front side team point winner:

Back side team point winner:

Overall 18 hole team point winner:

If you want to provide hole by hole, blow by blow results great, but we need at least the basic minimum listed above to keep track of the standings and tie breakers.

Rank -- Pts-W/L -- MP - OMW - Teams
-- 1 ---- 10.0/2.0 ---- 4 ----- 3 ---- kassper7/FirstFlightFX-101 ***
-- 2 ----- 7.0/2.0 ---- 3 ----- 3 ---- AndrewZ28/gary00 ***
-- 3 ----- 6.5/2.5 ---- 3 ----- 2 ---- mpisarski01/OCgolfer19 ***
-- 4 ----- 6.0/6.0 ---- 4 ----- 1 ---- PokerGuy0826/sandrail05 ***

-- 5 ----- 5.0/7.0 ---- 4 ----- 1 ---- roarksown1/mcantos
-- 6 ----- 5.0/7.0 ---- 4 ----- 1 ---- Deepsea14/Alex326
-- 7 ----- 3.0/6.0 ---- 3 ----- 0 ---- m.pugh/Sr714
-- 8 ----- 2.0/4.0 ---- 2 ----- 1 ---- Dconnally/Nickesquire
-- 9 ----- 0.5/5.5 ---- 2 ----- 0 ---- JohnnyGK/rgm2525
--10 ---- 0.0/3.0 ---- 1 ----- 0 ---- tocho261/sbogey

KEY:
Pts-W/L = Total match points won and lost.
MP = Matches played.
OMW = Overall Matches Won, need 2 or more points in a match to earn a tie breaking point here.

*** Qualified for Semi-finals

Four highest team point totals after pool play advance to the Semi-finals for a knock out round to determine the finalists. 1 v. 4 and 2 v. 3 seeds play in the next round.

Tie breaker to advance if one or more teams are tied for the 1-4 slots after pool play:

1-Head to head total points won if tied teams played each other. If inapplicable or still tied,
2-Team that wins the most overall matches, if still tied,
3-Team that posts their final point first, if still tied,
4-18 hole playoff match to determine who advances.

mpisarski01/OCgolfer19 v. PokerGuy0826/sandrail05 in the GK Cup 16 Final Match 3/14/20 @ Desert Willow Mountain View.

GK Cup 16 Champions PokerGuy0826/sandrail05

Congrats to John and Eric!

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

Match Between OCgolfer/Mpisarski vs Andrewz28/Gary00 went down yesterday at Woods Valley.

Front nine all square
Back nine Andrew and Gary 2up

2.5 points for the defending champs
.5 points for Ocgolfer and I.

Shot of the day goes to Andrew on hole 12 where he risked damage to his wedge and flopped a ball from 4inches behind a rock to land on the green. That was the major turning point in the round.

Short recap from Mountain Meadows yesterday where Perry, Chuck, Marvin and myself split the 3 available points after a tightly contested front nine and a furious finish from Perry on the back nine to secure the split.

We played the blue tees with everyone playing off of Marvin's low handicap. Perry received 6 shots, I received 8, and Chuck got 17. Marvin opened the scoring with a par on the first hole and that +1 advantage was maintained until things went AS at the par 4 5th where Perry and Chuck's 5 for 4s bested Marvin's bogey. Lead was back at +1 on the next hole after I found the GIR on the par 3 6th and two-putted for par to win it. But then Perry and Chuck took the next three holes in fine fashion to win the front 2up.

On the 10th hole, my three-putt bogey with a stroke was enough to put us +1 on the back and just -1 overall, and Marvin and I maintained that until the 12th hole where Chuck made light work of one of the hardest holes with a great par. But Marvin and I rattled off four straight hole wins to get the lead up to +4 on the back with just two to play, and a dormie +2 on the overall, the highlight being Marvin's super birdie on the par 5 15th. But the only player to finish the last two holes strong was Perry, who made a very solid par on the par 3 17th and bogeyed the 18th which was one better than my double after having to take a penalty for not finding my approach shot from 200 yards out.

It finished then 2up for Perry and Chuck on the front, 2up for Marvin and me on the back, and AS overall. The course really agreed with Chuck and he played a solid round at a tough course in relation to his handicap, while it's safe to say that neither myself, Perry or Marvin played our best, but did just enough when it counted to keep things interesting.

On to the next match!

RGM2525/JohnnyGK traveled up north to do battle with Deepsea14/Alex326 at the beautiful Quail Lodge Resort Golf Course. Conditons were super and just what you'd want for a match. Greens and bunkers were a perfect 10. We got out to an early lead on the front nine and stayed strong to take the full point point. The back nine started off a seesaw battle for a few holes with each team winning a hole and a couple of halves. Then we turned up the heat! I holed out from a bunker for a birdie to win hole 13 followed by Peter draining a long putt on hole 14 to put us 2 up on the back nine. The next hole was halved which guaranteed us the overall win. Ron won the hole on 16 to close the gap to 1 on the back nine. I was able to make par from just off the green on 17 that won us the hole and secured the final point.

Total points

Deepsea14/Alex326 - 3

RGM2525/JohnnyGK -0

I will do a better re-cap in a day or two.

m.pugh/Sr714 vs Kassper7/FirstFlightFX-101

Knollwood

While everyone except Chuck got off to a shaky start, Chuck played 4 of the first 5 holes in (with strokes) even par. This led to a 5&3 front side win. The back 9 was back and forth with the real fireworks again by Chuck - sinking an 18 footer for par (net birdie) on number 12 to take a 1Up on the back and later to make a crazy bending downhill 15 footer from the fringe to birdie the par 5 16. This made the back 9 AllSquare going to the 17th. Steve missed a 8 foot par putt on 17 by half an inch to keep from going a shot down and Chuck used the fact that he was the only person to get a stroke on 18 to good use when he bogeyed the final hole to match Mike's awesome par and secure a 1UP victory on the back.

Total Points

Kassper7/FirstFlightFX-101 - 3

m.pugh/Sr714 - 0

RGM2525/JohnnyGk vs. kassper7/FirstFlightFX-101

La Costa Champions course

kassper7/FirstFlightFX were getting 14 and 23 strokes respectively. As a team playing the front nine in only 5 over before strokes, this led to a 4 and 2 front side win. The highlight being the par 3 eighth, where Chuck after plonking his tee shot into the water, decided NOT to consult his partner and look for a drop zone but stubbornly hit his third from the same tee box. The ball hit the green not too far from the hole and rolled down a ridge and came 2 inches from the hole out for par. (the bogey made it net par) Johnny also hit a great shot that had a chance to be really great but rolled away from the hole and resulted in a (natural) par and a halved hole.

The back 9 was much more back and forth with Perry nearly dunking his third into the hole on the par 5 (pitch mark a foot in front of the hole and I heard the click of the flag stick but a mound blocked seeing how close it was). Ron birdied 11th for a win. Perry parred the long par 3 12th for the win. Ron and Johnny went on a 3 hole tear to go from one down on the back to 2 up. The signature par 3 16th was another big hole where Chuck was the only person to hit the green and watching his shot roll out right by the flagstick was another "will it go in?" moment. Chuck made the 4 footer left for birdie to close out the overall and put his team one down with 2 to go. At the point the light was starting to fade, the temperature was dropping, the cart path only golf was taking it's physical and mental tole on the four of us. Ron tied the 17th with a par and secured a half point on the back. The foursome turned into the cold wind to take on the difficult 18th. What followed was a hole of difficulty and attrition with Perry avoiding the penalty areas best and securing the hole and taking the final half point with an arduous bogey.

Total Points

Kassper7/FirstFlightFX-101 - 2.5
RGM2525/JohnnyGK - .5

Thanks for the recap Perry. Just a pleasure to play golf with you as always and to tee it up with Chuck for the first time. You guys played strong. I always know you're bringing game in GK Cup matches but man was Chuck impressive. Talk about raising his game for GK Cup. Was fun watching you guys hit some golf shots and making clutch putts. That second shot from Chuck on hole 8 where he almost aced the par 3 after going in the water on the first and his shot on #16 to win the birdie chain were special. A well earned blowout by you guys. Good luck moving forward
