Played in a 4 man scramble tournament over 2 days, bought 2 dozen Cut Blue for event....not one ball lasted more then 4 holes without cover cutting in spots....over 70 swing speed about 85 with driver...60 degree wedge max at 70 yards.....did not feel balls should cut as fast with my swing speeds, have had same problem with Kirkland 3 piece....why are the covers cutting so fast?

I had a similar issue with the blues but now I use the Cut DC's and have no problems with them. I really like the way the DC's play and they are good people that run the company based out of my hometown Costa Mesa.

I've seen the Cut Blue shred on John_T's new wedges and a cart path bounce. The Cut Grey seem to hold up nicely. $20 for a dozen balls with Urethane covers is an incredible deal.

I'm surprised. Are cut balls really a thing anymore?

I remember growing up when it was routine to see "smiles" cut into balls. But for many years now what I see is usually a loss of gloss and a little scuff on the surface if you can keep in play for a few rounds, or the worst case is more seriously scuffed from an abrasive surface like a cart path.

I can't remember the last time I've seen an actual club-induced cut on a ball.

I must have better luck with Kirkland 3 piece balls than others? Have played dozens and other than skuff marks from cart paths or trees, never had an issue with durability.

And for those of us old enought to have played pre 1980 golf balls, you could almost cut the old Balata balls in 2 with a badly skulled wedge.

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

LOL

"Just buy some Cut blue or Kirkland 3 piece you will see cuts in your balls without a doubt."

Friend bought some Kirkland and left it all at the rental house in Hilton Head after playing with it for couple rounds. Their cover is terrible. I think the latest ones have been fixed but ones that came out initially were awful. They gave everyone who bought it refunds and let the buyer keep the balls. I don't have much experience with the "cut" brand but sounds like their name already foretold what was going to happen. LOL
