We have a 14 year old junior golfer. Plays high school golf
He loves golf and shot even for the first time this month in a tournament.
Any advise to take him to next level?
Thanks in advance.

Keep it fun
Small steps keep track of the progress or lack of and where the work is required.
I'm assuming the "next level" would be scoring under-par in an event as the "next" level. Then upwards to best player on the team... ??
Hopefully he is under the tulelage of good coaching in a good program.
Good planning for the larger long term goal(s). (Elite Jr events, College scholarship) for example.
Appears a few years of H.S. golf left.
Keep the love of the game at the forefront.

A coach that you both like and trust.

If it's something he continues to enjoy and improve at, look into recruiting companies to help gain exposure. He can definitely get a full or partial scholarship if you're looking to go that route.

Walk, walk, walk, you must walk if you are going to play in any big time events, carts are nice for older people like me, but, if you want to play big time golf, at the highest levels, you walk, 4-5 rounds per week, between tournament rounds, practice rounds etc. strong legs make strong players...also, do not develop rabbit ears, do not try anything, and everything that well- minded people tell you, get a good, solid group of people on your team, and play, and practice as much as possible, and as Mr. Hogan told me, flight your short irons low, flight your long irons high, and. learn how to breathe...and. also avoid Greyhound buses...stay healthy, drive safely, best of luck, CGG...

Have him set his goals in writing. What does HE want (short term, intermediate and long term). And what is HE going to do everyday to achieve it. Then have him keep a journal or log and every week write down what he did to accomplish his goals.
Basically you are laying out on paper the destination, the road map on how to get there and checking off check points along the way.
