Top golf is finally coming to southern CA. After years of rumors about a El Segundo location its finally happening top golf is finally in the design/build stage for not one location but Two! El Segundo is moving forward as planned and a second location in Ontario is also moving forward. I know it’s not a big deal for people who actually want to practice but I think it will be great for the golf community to get people out and try golf.
Ps there are rumors that top golf is looking at taking over the Newport Beach golf course on Irvine blvd which has been up for sale for years.

This IS great news! I have been hoping for Top Golf to come to So Cal for years now, as it's a way for us golf nuts to ease the transition of others who aren't keen to play and have fun. I was really hoping that Top Golf would buy out the property in San Diego that currently belongs to Stadium Golf as it would be perfect there, but alas this will do for now!

Maybe the perfect place to go for the 4some Dale and I recently played behind @ Morro Bay GC? The group from hell that took two hours to play the easiest 6 holes on the course. The best of the bunch probably didn't break 120 if all strokes were counted and two players would often whiff multiple times on the tee box.
The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

LOL Nick! . . . as my buddy once told a twosome we were paired with that had a similar, "playing style" as you described, "maybe you two would be better off at the practice facility?" They didn't quite get the gist of that either.
Maybe, like in Japan, we need more indoor driving ranges, simulators and gimmicky "golf facilities" for people like that to enjoy? Not my cup of tea. Gimme dirt, rough, trees and sweat anytime.

Matt - where did you learn this? Is there a link? Living in the area, I've heard this for a few years now and it never came to be. Just wondering if you have any links that show that this is definitely happening. Be fun if it does ...

Well the blueprints came across my desk for bid so they are building it very soon. Basically they now have a general contractor and they are getting all of the bids in, which normally takes place 1-2 months before ground breaking.

For the Ontario one there is a hydrology report posted online. That report costs a bunch of money so its unlikely that they wouldn't be close to building.
