CA. in particular and the U.S. in general is well behind what is happening in Europe on golf course closures.

According to Bunkered.co.uk, research has shown that more than one-third of all of Europe’s golf courses have been closed as the coronavirus pandemic spreads throughout the continent.

“At least 3,185 of Europe’s 8,940 courses are currently in lockdown – 35.6%,” the story, written by Michael McEwan, read. “Germany accounts for the highest proportion of those, with all 1,050 of its layouts closed.”

Bunkered’s estimates concluded that over two million golfers in Europe are currently without a golf course at which to play. Aside from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain the Netherlands and Norway have closed all courses, while Denmark, Austria, Belgium and Poland have put severe restrictions on their playability as well.

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

Close enough topic for this thread:

From Roger Dunn, et.al,

To our Valued Golf Community,

As the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread throughout the communities where we all live and work, we have consistently looked for ways to help protect the health and safety of our employees and customers. Since our founding in 1984, Worldwide Golf has been about doing the right thing for our community.

In support of the nation’s efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, Worldwide Golf (The Golf Mart, Van’s Golf Shops, Roger Dunn Golf Shops, Golfers Warehouse, Edwin Watts Golf Shops, Las Vegas Golf Superstore and Uinta Golf shops) will temporarily close all 83 retail locations for two weeks, starting at the close of business today, March 19. We are planning to reopen Friday, April 3. During this interruption, our online store will remain open to server your golfing needs at worldwidegolfshops.com. You may also reach us anytime at support@worldwidegolfshops.com for any questions or concerns. We will remain available during this temporary closure to give you the customer service and support that we value greatly.

We realize the impact a closure can have on our employees, and this is not a decision we made lightly. To help alleviate challenges during this temporary closure, we will be providing uninterrupted pay and benefits during this two-week time frame for all employees.

Our company has always done what’s right for the safety of our communities and our employees. We look forward to reopening soon. In the meantime, thank you for your understanding, your patience and, most of all, for being a part of our incredible golf community. Golf remains a vital part of all our lives, especially in moments like this. Stay Healthy and Safe and we look forward to serving your golfing needs soon.

Sincerely,

Al Morris,
President/CEO

After the Governors announcement this evening, I would assume that ALL golf courses statewide will close effective midnight tonight?!

You can walk the dog or go on a hike with the family. But hitting the little ball with the big stick will be socially unacceptable.

If we all do the right thing this pandemic will pass sooner than later.

Dear Patrons of Glen Ivy,

We will be following the Governor of California's newest order to close all non essential businesses as of March 19th, 2020 we will be fully closed.

We know that this is as hard for the golf community as it is for us. We will be working hard to keep our course in beautiful shape and we will be opening as soon as possible!

We may not be able to answer all calls and voicemails to the course so respond to this email or reach out on our website for the fastest response to any questions or concerns.

Please stay tuned for updates on when we can re-open!
Thank you and stay safe!
