My golf bag/clubs were recently stolen and I ordered replacements. Cannot get into any specifics on GK about what happened regarding the theft as the process is still working its way hopefully toward an arrest.

The purpose of this post is not about my old clubs, but about the replacement clubs. And how hard specific clubs are to obtain.

Has anyone ordered any golf equipment lately?

I custom ordered 13 clubs after going in for two, 2 hour sessions @ the PGA Superstore in Palm Desert the last weekend in September. Tried a bunch of different clubs and shafts. When I placed the order Sunday before last, was originally told early to mid October from one manufacturer and early November from the other.

Checked today, and it looks like the earliest some of the replacement clubs will arrive is sometime after the upcoming Presidential election. Even worse, the other company is now saying December. Both cited longer delays than normal with back orders due to COVID.

OUCH!!!

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

I keep seeing PXG commercials about how their previous model irons are on sale at vastly reduced prices. I would imagine that means they are already made and ready to ship. Did you look into that at all? I think the previous generation are like $125/club instead of like $400/club.

That's a bummer Nick.

QUOTED  Checked today, and it looks like the earliest some of the replacement clubs will arrive is sometime after the upcoming Presidential election. Even worse, the other company is now saying December. Both cited longer delays than normal with back orders due to COVID.

That seems to be the case with many products that are imported. (still haven't seen a can of Lysol at Walmart since February)
Assembled in the USA using imported parts I've noticed on many manufacturers clubs.

QUOTED  Has anyone ordered any golf equipment lately?

No but I inquired about a Bryson DeChambeau Cobra 5.5 degree driver at Golf Galaxy those are NOT available.
Going there today I will ask about the estimated time for a custom order set and report back here.

I have a few sets of former wrenches (iron sets) around if you need something in the interim.

I know for a fact that almost all manufacturers are dealing with inventory and production issues. Its kind of a combo of delays/issues from covid coupled with a major increase in demand.

I think you might be out of luck if you go the custom route, but you could get something used or stock and then have it adjusted (if you can do that with the clubs you choose).

Nick, hope your new clubs come sooner than later! Just like Peter, I'll offer you an interim set of wrenches to use. Of course, I'll gladly remove all the lead tape tinkerin', and will C19 disinfect them ;-)

(only a partial set: irons 4-GW, a SW, a LW and a Royal 5010 putter)

Wow sorry to hear.

It's always exciting to order new clubs, but then again, the feeling from being robbed and the inconvenience of not having the club till the new ones arrive sux.

Yeah, many if not all club companies production are held back by covid. I know first hand (info) on Titleist has been, but they're starting to get up to speed. Customs had always added a few days up to a week, but now I'm sure it's even longer because of staffing.

Hope they do better than December for you.

Good luck.

Wow, that sucks Nick.
My good friend had the opposite timeline.
He got fitted at one of those new indoor simulator type places (where you can book a tee time) here in Torrance.
He got fitted for woods, irons, and wedges. 2 different manufacturers (TM and Callaway).
All clubs arrived at his house in 3 days. He was actually shocked at how quick. They quoted him 2 weeks at time of purchase.

Maybe it has to do with whatever you ordered as “custom”.
