Just got an email saying the current Shorecliffs clubhouse will close April 8 and a new one is scheduled to open in July 2022.

Interesting to me only because the old, run-down current clubhouse sort of fits the course perfectly. It would be kind of weird to have a beautiful new clubhouse unless they dramatically improve the course, no? Has anyone heard about significant course improvements on the horizon?

I Googled "Shorecliffs new clubhouse" and found this proposal on the city's website: https://www.san-clemente.org/departments-services/planning-services/development-projects-map/development-projects-page/shorecliff-s-golfcourse-temporary-clubhouse

Sounds like it will be on the opposite side of the freeway from the current clubhouse. (I think... Where is hole 9 now?) Also mentioned something about a senior apartment development on part of the current course. Seems to me they need to regain lost golf course land rather than lose more of it.

I believe the plan is to build a new clubhouse attached to a new Senior living development on the site of the current clubhouse/driving range.

This is the plan for a temporary clubhouse to use while the big construction goes on. I am having a hard time visualizing how that temp clubhouse goes onto #9.

They need to turn this one into a nice par 3 course.

Lipstick doesn't cost millions of dollars and take 16 months to apply.

Sitting in traffic coming back from SD I just happen to look through a break in the wall to where shorcliffs is and I swear I saw a perfectly manicured fairway. Does anyone Live in the area that can confirm?

This cant be possible and it was probably just my eyes playing tricks on me as I angerly sat in traffic.

The two Fairways I could see are just off east of the freeway.

I've noticed that too that the old 10th looks great from a glimpse from the freeway. IIRC, that hole is typically one of the better maintained holes on the course.
