well isn't it great the Covid has filled the public golf courses from one end of the state to the other...for us that have been playing regular for years we now get to play slower behind all the new golfers that are clueless and we have to fight for good tee times, again because seems no one 20 to 40 has to work during the week any more. AND just love the fact most public courses are getting full tee sheets SO they raise their green fees, for some as much as $15 ...or the one we play sometimes went from $36 to $51......oh and seen how so many of these new golfers are in contest to see if they can drink more cans of beer or loose more balls while tearing the carts to pieces over in the rough....

What's next?

As Joni...

..."pave paradise and put up a parking lot"

No, no, no
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot.

I agree, finally got out this morning for my first round in 2021. Could never get an early tee time for a single. Played San Clemente and boy, what a train wreck. Fairways hard, no rough or sand. I'll try somewhere else but this covid crap farce really messed things up.

New golfers (IMO anyway) are a good thing.

So they may not be very good or know the rules or etiquette? Likely neither did anyone else reading this when they first started.

A few of the new players will become avid golfers. Some will stick with golf. But history has shown that most new golfers will move on to others things because golf is, take your choice... Too expensive. Too hard. Takes too many hours to play. Or fill in your own blank.

I noticed that with each stimulus check, there were either new people or established players who had rarely been posting reviews consistently popping up. They went hot and heavy for s short time, likely until their free $$$ ran out. Or they got bored. Or tired of shooting 100's.

Golf needs new blood. Sports, like life has a way of weeding out the lowest common denominator. Not all, but most of the ones who shouldn't be out there won't be out there for long.

And the ones who stick with golf? Good for them, and good for us on having new people to play with.

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

All good points, I would think all of us that have played for years would agree the one thing courses need now (not higher green fees) is get a Marshal or two out there...
