GK Plays are too much fun to not have.

I’ve had to cancel 3 outings this year since COVID-19 that I want to reschedule.
We still have an outing in Vegas on July 25th scheduled I’ve been talking with KevBig over there.

“The outing itself is allowed since golf is open again here. The one thing we are not yet certain about is your traditional awards after the outing since indoor spaces are still restricted in the number of people allowed to gather at one time. We expect to be able to fully operational by then but cannot confirm that at this time.”

I feel like we need plan B – And that is if Social Distancing at golf courses is in full effect as it is now. My guess is there will be still be single cart riders, which is fine as long as the costs of the outing remains same. Probably can’t do traditional Closest To The Pins and Long Drive contests because of shared touch points but maybe there is a way we can digitally share results with each other. The big one is of course the after golf raffle and eating/drinking. The biggest reason GK has these outings is to connect our GK Community in a fun social atmosphere. GK could do some goodie bags for everyone instead of the raffle which would not be as fun but at least we still have prizes giving out.

In addition there would be no shotgun starts. They would be limited to small outings straight tee times that are correctly spaced apart for safety.

Any ideas on how to modify GK Plays in this current COVID-19 environment to create something really fun?

Looking forward to your input!

* Lastly PLEASE do not post your political opinion in this discussion. Thank You.

QUOTED  Probably can’t do traditional Closest To The Pins

Everyone brings their own Measuring Tape!!!!!!

On a personal note- I really hope we dont cancel the Gk plays Las Vegas as this is the only thing I can look forward too this summer. Raffle or not I'll still go.

Johnny, on closest to the pin/hole, you can do it old school. On a small piece of paper (you could probably provide a cut up paper for participants) to write a name on it and peg it with a tee where the ball ended up. But I suppose someone would have to pick up the mark of the prior and farther... use a napkin?
Also have the last group gather the marker? … just an idea.

Running on Noeldaof's idea you could have a box of napkins/ Kleenex taped to the CTP sign and use a special GK ball marker to mark the spot on the green or just use the Measuring tape with the napkins. That way the sign is not in the way of any shots coming into the green.

Also no need to leave a pencil because everyone else already has one with them for scorekeeping.

Just have someone in each group bring a tape measure to the course, measure the closest-to-the-pin when they play the hole, record the information on the scorecard, and reveal it during a matching of the cards at the end of the round. Jeez...it ain't rocket science.

All I know is I don't have to worry about even thinking about touching the long drive signage. And after my last round closest to the pin isn't in danger of my germs.

I just miss the GK people.

Thanks Matt!

Absolutely planning on having this outing. And I want to start scheduling many more for the rest of 2020 as we adapt them. We'll still make them awesome that's for sure although I'm certainly going to miss all the hugs and handshakes I like to give at the events.
