The course was in great shape. Very challenging from blue tees, not because of distance, but because of the lay out. Would play again.

Played June 10. I like this course because of the variety of holes it will make you hit every club in your bag. The course doesn't drain well so a wet winter like this year's makes it a slog. Now that it's dried out it's in great shape, but don't expect any roll on the fairways, they keep it pretty wet to get rid of wastewater. They've done a lot of work on their traps to make the sand fluffy which is nice. If they'd just mow their greens more often, and mow them a little closer it would really help scoring. Poa Annua is going to be bumpy, we know that, but it can be managed if it's mowed and rolled. All of the other area courses do it well. Slow and bumpy is what I see most often at Windsor (including today).

Noon tee time Wednesday 12 May; foursome following many others made waiting on every hole routine. Just over 5 hours to play on a beauty spring day on a course that is targeting the greens mainly for the maintenance. Having been cored a month ago, residual core scars are still visible and making the ball bounce on the greens when putting. Soft and holding allowed targeting the approach shots to the greens from dry and thinning fairways with some bare spots. Rough was just that; rough and rugged due to inattention. Tees need leveling and sand was good. The layout was the best part, using the natural terrain and features to make you think around the course. NO drinks cart but plenty of water stations. Service was average- did not see any marshals. Good prac/fac and adjoining restaurant.

An absolute gem of a muni. Very fine conditions throughout the course with lushness and good targeting of maintenance and watering. Thursday 29 Oct 09, 12:24 tee 3ball, $40 riding (senior). Having aerated on 11 Oct, the greens are progressing well. By mid November should be great. Scars still visible but greens were smooth, medium speed, soft and held well. Very interesting greens design using contouring and mounds as the defence; LOTS of fun. Rough around the course is well managed, around an inch near greens, slightly longer off fairways, and all lush. Fairways lush, at times thin, but good shape and firmish. Sand quality around the greens very good; fairway bunkering a little thin (not a biggy). Tees in good shape but some not too level with divot damage. The layout was fun and interesting, with good use of the small hills to guard the greens; challenging enough. It was a busy day so 5 hours was the pace, but they do use 8 minute tee time spacing (good luck). Nice marshalling, no drinks cart today, service ok. A good practice facility with huge range, all turf and flat. Chipping area removed from range and nearer to pro shop. Putting greens of good size for practice. A separate restaurant is available with good F&B and bar but opens at 11:00. Small grill in the pro shop is open for small eats. Overall a lot of fun with good challenge on a great fall day.

I play Windsor a lot because it generally has good greens and has a great variety of hole layouts. I was disappointed with course conditions today (March 8) however. We've had a rainy period here, and its not unusual to play in Northern Cal. with sloppy fairways etc. But we had two good dry days when they could have gotten out and mowed. The greens on the front were so furry and bumpy with poa annua seed heads sticking up that putting was a joke. I three putted the first four holes, including for par on a par 5. They apparently got around to doing maintenance because the back had been mowed and was very playable, and I shot even par. I just think if they're not going to do maintenance or if its too wet to mow, then discount the green fees so we can maintain the "muni" atmosphere and feel like we get what we pay for.

Played for first time Tuesday 12/9/08. Thoroughly enjoyed the course, has a little of everything (elevation, dog legs, open/narrow fairways). Challenging, fair and very fun.

Played Nov. 26. This is a good challanging course with a lot of variety in hole design, including forced carries, layup holes, long and short, doglegs, water, and hills. They overhauled the sand traps last year and they're much more playable now. Like most courses watered with recycled water they tend to overwater and it plays soft all year. Winter play tends to be sloppy. Greens are always good and smooth (but smallish) with a lot of break and several with tiers.

Even with a dry & fire laden summer, the course features lush fairways & rough, and smooth/true greens. Wind is always a factor at this course just north of the Santa Rosa airport but that fact notwithstanding, all the par 3's are challenging and demanding. Play gets a little slow in the summer what with the occasional 2 6-pack foursome ahead of you but in general, the pace is steady with few backups. A couple of risk/reward par 4's make this former Nike tour stop worth the 4 1/2 hr - 5 hr round.
