Oregon Golf Courses, Reviews, Aeration Alerts, Photos and Current Rates. This Arnold Palmer design is a perfect example of resort golf. Wide fairways, few forced carries with an emphasis on aesthetics, playability and conditioning. Playing the from the back tees provides plenty of challenges for the better player, but the course is more pleasant than punishing. The course winds around the property, taking you alongside marshes and lakes and through areas of forest. There's enough elevation change to keep things interesting and provide some nice views of the property, especially on the back nine. The greens are fairly big with enough contouring to maintain the course's visual elegance, but not too extreme to overwhelm the novice golfer.
Overall, the Running Y Ranch golf course is a real pleasure to play over and over again. It's a beautiful, idyllic setting with top notch conditioning. There are very good deals on stay & play packages at the resort throughout the year. Accommodations and amenities at the Lodge are very comfortable and pleasant just like the golf course. A very relaxed atmosphere and family friendly as well.
I played 36 holes on a day in early June and saw maybe 3 or 4 groups the entire day. I would highly recommend a visit if you're in Southern Oregon.

The greens can be tough with subtle undulation, they run about 9 to 9.5 on the stimpmeter.
Great mix of holes with 12/13 and 14 being a tough corner to get through in par. The wind can get going which really brings a challenge to the course. Well worth the price.

Arguably the premier golf complex in the Portland area, Pumpkin Ridge boasts 2 18 hole golf courses. The private Witch Hollow course has hosted the US Amateur, US Women's Open and numerous USGA qualifiers. The public Ghost Creek course is the home of the LPGA Safeway Classic. There are separate clubhouses for each course.
The entire facility is top notch from the clubhouse to the practice facilities to the course conditioning and staff. Rates during peak season (Jun - Sept) is $150 and they offer a frequent player card (Ghost Pass) that entitles you to reduced rates and other benefits.
The Ghost Creek course is a perfect blend of classic and modern parkland design. There are no tricks or gimmicks, just 18 holes that will test every part of your game. The blend of long/short and risk/reward holes means you will always have to make decisions on when/where to play safe or aggressive. Mix in some elevation changes, water hazards, beautiful bunkering and a variety of greens complexes and you'll understand why Ghost Creek is a must play.
Like many courses in the area, Ghost Creek can be very muddy during the winter/spring, but the rates are adjusted during these times of year.

Since I am a member, I have a "Little Bias", but I have played quite a few Golf Courses
in Oregon. With any review, you have to use other courses to base it against! I will use Southern Oregon Golf Courses. By my estimation this Course is the Cream of the Crop in Southern Oregon and one of the 10 best in the State. It offers a lot challenge, but if you are playing well you can score! If not, carry an extra sleeve! Great set up and always in terrific shape. Some water holes that come into play, but does have a creek meandering through it that you have to be aware of at all times. (seems to always be in your landing area!)
Greens are good size and undulating as are most RTJ jr. courses. Originally Bent grass greens, but are being take over by poa. The management just purchased in 2010 three or four new "Green Rollers" and the greens can be very slick when they want them to be. Which is a lot of fun!! Overall design is Very Good, and scenery is Terrific with Deer and Wild Turkeys living on the course. Not Pretentious, but Upscale!! It is one of those tracks, that can be played over and over without any boredom setting in. With 5 sets of tees, it a challenge for anyone. Great sand, fairway and greens always in Beautiful shape. If it was in Southern California, would be 100 g's to join! Try it out, and you will want to have lunch and go out again!

Since there were no reviews for Eagle Point, I figured I'd add my two cents and post a couple of pictures for the GK fanatics. Been working my way through the Oregon courses I've played, so this is the last one I think.
It was several years ago when I played here. Very nice course in one of the nicer parts of the greater Medford area. It can get very hot here in the summer (which is when I played), but the course was in great shape when I visited. It has a nice variety of holes with plenty of challenge and a scenic setting. Some holes are surrounded by trees while others have plenty of water in play. Then there are some that had a distinct links style, with a more undulating dunes feel like you might find on the Oregon coast. Kind of mixes all the distinctive Oregon golf styles into one nice—though not truly spectacular—course.

I played here a many, many years ago, but had a few pictures I figured I'd post along with a quick review.
Dutcher Creek is nothing too spectacular. There's a few cool holes close to the clubhouse with elevated tees and greens that were pretty cool, but most of the course is pretty flat and straightforward. A back-and-forth layout with a small smattering of trees. Course is surrounded by farmland just outside of Grants Pass. Not a bad course at all and pretty inexpensive, so decent for a small local track.

I had the pleasure of playing Salishan a few years ago on a drive up the Oregon coast. Kind of an isolated setting and a bit expensive as a "resort" course, but a great place for golf. I really enjoyed my round here, so I wanted to post some pictures and a quick review on GK since there's not much info here yet.
When I played (summer), the course was in excellent condition and the staff was great. I really enjoyed the layout of the course. It has a lot of variety. The front nine is more woodsy with ponds, creeks and trees coming into play on many holes. Very green and lush. Then the back nine opens up with some holes along the waterfront and a more dunes-style environment. There are a lot of elevation changes on both sides of the course. Very beautiful setting for golf and well worth a visit.

This is a neat little course. One of the oldest golf courses on the West Coast, in fact, with some holes dating back to the late 1800s. Traditional links style design, but very different than somewhere like Bandon. Small greens and narrower fairways, but with plenty of natural undulation being built on a similar seaside dunes complex. Big, neat clubhouse with an old world look and the whole place definitely tries to throw back to classic UK golf roots. Not the most spectacular course or layout you'll ever play, but a fun course that's definitely worth a stop if you are on the north Oregon coast (just a little south of Astoria).

Hard to believe there are no reviews of this course on the site, so let me be the first to post one (along with pictures that should be going up soon) as this is one of my favorite courses I've ever played.
Before Bandon or Sunriver, this was the premier Oregon golf destination, so it should not be forgotten about. It's easiest to get to, being just 30 minutes or so outside of Portland, and also a little less expensive. I played the Ghost Creek course back in 2007 (Witch Hollow course is private) and really enjoyed this course a lot. Beautiful, classic layout with plenty of challenge. When I played, it was one of the most well-conditioned courses I've ever set foot on—absolutely perfect from tee to green. Lots of trees surrounding almost every hole, some nice water hazards that definitely come into play and long, light brown fescue framing the lush green grass on a few holes. Gorgeous! Put it on your bucket list if it's not there already.

I played this course many years ago. Working my way through some Oregon/Northern California courses without many photos or reviews and posting what photos and memories I have.
Sandpines is an excellent course. Before Bandon, this was the preeminent Oregon Coast course. Unfortunately, it has been forgotten about a bit with Bandon just two hours south. I really enjoyed my experience here. Wind-swept dunes shape the course and the designers did a great job incorporating the natural elements. Some holes are very wide open and exposed and others are nestled amongst rows of tall trees. Wind can have a big effect on playability. Either way, it has plenty of challenging elements. A rugged, links style layout and a worthy stop if you are ever making your way up or down the beautiful Oregon Coast.

I played this course several years ago. Just noticed there were no reviews or pictures for Ocean Dunes on GK, so thought I'd post something for people to read if interested. I'll probably do this for a few other lesser-known courses in NoCal and Oregon that don't have any info. Just keep in mind these reviews are not based on any current conditions.
Ocean Dunes is a pretty fun course layout. Challenging, rugged, inland links style course set amongst the dunes in Florence, Oregon. Kind of a poor man's Bandon Trails—that would be the best comparison. The layout is fun with a lot of variety in hole designs that use the local surroundings well. When I played there (in the summer), the course was in pretty rough shape. Brown and patchy throughout with a lot of thin, worn-out lies in the fairways, which I'm told is pretty common there. Don't go there expecting immaculate conditions or first-class service. It's a decent complement to the other local course in Florence (Sandpines), but if you are in the area and can only choose one, definitely pay a few extra bucks and play Sandpines!
