My favorite set of irons I have ever owned
Monday December 28, 2009
I love these irons from Nike. I need a SW about a year ago and the Sumo SW felt the best of all of the wedges I tested at the store. After carrying it for a few rounds and being impressed by its forgiveness, feel, consistency and accuracy out of the sand, off the carpet and out of the rough. It made me curious to try the full set of irons and I bought them after a 5 minute test drive. They hit better and felt better than the Ping Rapture V-2s that I was considering. Best of all, they were about $600 less.
The only drawback is that they are so forgiving that it's difficult to shape your shots. I just try to hit my shots straight but when I have been at the range trying to work on a draw or fade, it's been challenging to get the clubs to cooperate--they just want to straighten everything out for you. I have a 24 index and I hit my 7-iron around 145, 150 on a good day. I bought the graphite shafts with regular flex. I even ponied up and added the 3I (not included with the set). | ||||||||||||||
