sg5 skycaddie
Tuesday November 29, 2011
finally bought the skycaddie sg5 after using iphone for my golf gps. With today's lower prices, and preowned units, it makes it affordable to buy one. I like the SG5 for its ability to display the hole layout which is quite useful for new courses I have not played before. The accurate distance info gives me more confidence in club selection which usually results in better shots.

SG5 - Color Sky Caddie, nice but SG4 could do the job for less $$$
Wednesday July 15, 2009
Their guarrantee to lower your score is true... with accurate distances to hazards and greens, you can manage the course and make shot decisions with confidence. Great addition to my bag, the annual membership could be less too...

Easily best thing in my bag. No more hunting down markers and pacing off your distances. Battery life equals 2 rounds.

Works great, But disappointed with battery life
Tuesday July 14, 2009
I've had my unit for 1.5 years. It works well. I love the color screen and all the detailed information available. However, I cannot get two full rounds on a battery charge. Around hole 15 of my second round the battery loses the charge. This isn't a problem if I have my charger with me between rounds. The other issue I have is minor. If the round I'm playing is a bit slow, the unit sometimes jumps ahead to the next hole. I have to bring it back to the current hole. Other than these two minor issues, this is a great tool.

It only gets better
Saturday March 28, 2009
The new upgraded software with: auto-select course, score card, distance of last shot, and depth of green was a great improvement. You can also store up to 20 courses now(less trips to the computer). I spoke with the rep and they are justifying the subscription with many more up-grades to come. They now have many accessories to make life easier. I give it my "table pounding buy".

Love the SG5
Tuesday March 24, 2009
I used it all last season and loved it. Got it cheaprer on Craigslist. This year, they changed the software. I upgraded it with the new S/W and I couldn't get it to work. After days and hours on the phone with Tech Support, they decided it was a hardware problem and I had to send it away to get fixed. Still wish they's allow more than 20 courses at once, or have an option for a removeable SIM card.

Great GPS!!!
Monday September 22, 2008
It is my first GPS and maybe my last , unless they come up with a better version. This one was very easy to set up via the computer and to download the courses and also to add and delete courses too. NO problems booting up at the course and it works great...It truly has saved me some strokes and time figuring out what club to hit. I bought the clamp system to hook it on to either my push cart or electric cart..works great...priced too high though..$70 but I got mine off ebay for $45...I just trust it better than the "clip on" that it comes with. If you are looking for an accurate and very upgradable GPS..this is the one...don't settle for the lesser versions from Skyecaddie...go for the top of the line...you won't be dissapointed!!

New 2 GPS -
Monday September 8, 2008
After reading so many reviews concerning GPS machines - I decided to go with the Sky Caddy - SG5 - I like the look of it and it is not too heavy. I am still working on the best way to carry it - Since I have been walking alot lately - I just clip it on my bag - The distances are good - It helps me to focus on taking the shot more than quessing at the distance. The battery life was a concern at first but, the sky caddy has proved me wrong. Played two rounds in 25 days - and I am still more than half full. It holds its power pretty good.
This item has worked to my expectation and beyond. It is a great buy. | ||||||||

Upgraded from the SG2
Monday July 14, 2008
Having been hooked by the SG2, I can't play any course now without this confidence builder. This is a nice upgrade from the other SkyCaddies in that the color graphics are easy to see and decipher even in bright sunlight. Very light and easy to handle. Battery lasts at least two 4 + hour rounds. A pricey item, but I was able to shop around (ebay,Amason etc) and saved more than $80. In addition, I sold my SG2 for a quick $100. This product works exactly as you would expect, and if you are willing to pay for quality you will get it here.
