Played San Dimas Canyon today. Tee off was 9:45 with perfect weather conditions. Customer service was outstanding, the pro shop gentleman was pleasant and informative, directing me to the range and practice green. You will not find a regular practice area here but nets instead. The area is also off mats but they are well kept and you will still get a good warm up in because of the distance and height of the nets.
Starter was friendly and cordial and gave helpful information on speed of greens and the custom way the ball breaks.
Course is in fantastic condition. Greens were punched just Three weeks ago and there is no trace of it to be found. Speed today ran at 10.5. Greens are above average size with many undulations that keep you on your putting game. Looking at the course and elevation changes and distance to several tees I would not recommend trying to walk it here. From the back tees the course plays just over 6400 so you will get a good challenge for your game.
Fairways are lush and well defined with rough coming in at 2-4 inches with a fair but firm chance at recovery. Bunkers are well maintained are present a good challenge, with several being 4-5 feet below the putting surface. Sand quality was excellent with a good base and fluffy white conditions. Fairway bunkers are well maintained, not as challenging and green side but will still make you think about club selection.
Tees were good with some minor divot damage, and most were quite level, although some presented a bit of shag that was a little annoying.
Overall I would recommend this course with high marks, it is fun, causes you to think about your shots and has terrific views of the local mountains, and wildlife that runs freely through the course.

Green is not healed yet from aerating, but it is enough to play. It seems that the course is well maintained, but tee boxes need improvement. On average, it is fun. I would come and play again. Their ... Continue »

Played San Dimas this past Sunday, 10/6. Conditions were very good despite aeration and maintenance on the T's. They aerate 1/2 the greens here, almost healed, and will begin the other half soon. I'm a big fan of aerating 1/2 at a time, the 1/2 that was not aerated was just about perfect, rolling smooth and true and it's not often you have to putt through the aerated 1/2.
The T's were the worst part of the course, they scoured them and are not being watered, despite that, I found them to be level and had good traction, little hard though.
We played a late twilight, getting in around 12 holes in about an hour 3/4.

Got a hot deal on golfnow for $22.50 with a cart with a tee time at 12:45. Played as a 3 ball in about 3hr 40min. The course was empty to my surprise. Overall the course is in very good shape, everything very green. Tee boxes are lush, fairways were excellent lush kikuyu and the greens were good. The greens were soft and receptive but were not very true rolling and rolled pretty slow compared to my last round at river ridge with 11 stimped greens. For the price I would play this course again.

Played 7/6/2013 with my wife. Very much enjoyed the day, played in 4 hours 15 minutes. The course was in very good shape and the greens where consistent across the entire 18. Very nice staff and the marshal's where doing a very good job at keeping the pace up, without being pushy.

Played today, had a 10:30 reservation, but the course was not busy and we teed off around 10:15 as a threesome after a single joined us. Course is in very good shape, except it was over watered in many spots in fairways. Greens were excellent, quick and true, requiring paying full attention to recognizing the grains. One big complaint: we were following a foursome which in turn was following a twosome and a threesome. Understandably, the foursome in front of us started to have a large gap between them and the threesome in front of them, which turned into a minimum of a hole, hole-and-a-half about half way through the front nine. We were hopeful that they would eventually let us play through, as we had lengthy wait on just about every shot, but that never took place. What was frustrating was that the "course ambassadors" came by and saw what was happening a number of times but never approached the group in front of us to let us play through, even after we pointed out to him about the gap they had in front of them. Rather, the ambassador spent time feeding a flock of geese that abound the back nine and picking up trash - nice. Long story short, we ended up with a 5 hours and 45 minutes round that could easily have been a four hour round. The twosome that was behind us gave up somewhere in the back nine and left the course - what a shame.

Played this course on a Saturday, which was my first mistake! Not only was I waiting at every shot for the group in front to clear, I also had a 15 minute delay on Hole 10 so the bride and groom could take some pictures! WTF!!! I must have stumbled upon the final round of the US Open because the foursome in front of my group sure took there time judging their putts and lining up those 45 footers for par! Needless to say, I won't be frequenting this course on a Saturday any time soon!
