Had not played Meadowlark since 2016, so was looking forward to returning. While not the greatest of courses, there are several interesting holes on this executive course, which are fun to play. Let m... Continue »

Ideal tee shot is to aim at the fairway bunkers on the left side and hit a cut shot (for the right handed golfer). If the tee box is set up on the right side (closer to the houses) you have to be careful when you set up to hit your tee shot especially if you are going to try to hit a cut, trees and homes butt right up against that side. Hitting a fade or even a minor slice won't kill you as long as the ball avoids the houses on the right. There is room between hole 1 and 6 but you will be in the trees and balls are hard to find in there. If you set up for a cut and you end up hitting the ball straight, you will end up on hole 3 and will have to deal with a tree line on your 2nd shot. I do not recommend going for the hole in two because it is a small green with trouble on all sides, including tee box 3 and 1 that easily come into play with an errant shot.

You can opt for driver or 3 wood depending on the tee box location to go for the green, but if you hit a cut, you will be in the trees with a tricky 2nd shot hitting over a bunker or into an uphill lie. If you draw or hook the ball you could in between hole 6 and 3, again possibly hitting over a greenside bunker. If you hit it over, the green will be slightly above you making your next shot tricky.
Smart play is take a 3 hybrid or iron and your goal is to hit the ball over the mound in the middle of the fairway and leave yourself a 30-50 yard 2nd shot. Depending on the pin location, the green slopes from back to front, so you are better off trying to end up below the flag.
