Played last week and had a blast. Golf course was in good shape. Tees, fairways and greens were very, very good and lush. The rough was very long and nasty, not your typical resort 1 inch rough. It was playing very difficult. The restoration is very minimal, it's basically the same course as before. On the 2nd hole the bunker on the right side is gone, now it's all grass. The trees lining the whole right side of the fairway were supposed to be removed, giving one an all-ocean view, but the trees are still there so you still cannot see the ocean on this hole. Everything else is pretty much the same. Got an email special here so used it and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Food was good, service was superb. Pelican represents everything I don't like about golf, the snob factor is extremely high here, but if someone wants to clean my shoes, give me a cold hand/face towel after the round, pull out my chair in the bar for me to sit down, I'm not gonna stop 'em.

First class all the way!! I was lucky to get invited to play this weekend, you drive up and three attendants decend on your car, they open your door, the pop your trunk, they take your clubs out, they even had my hats laid out and asked which one i would be wearing that day. Loker room was immaculate showers for after, bathroom attendant the works! Driving range that the ball pyramid going, only draw back was you have to hit off of mats. No GPS but there is a laser range finder that i found very easy to use.

Golf course itself was perfect, tee boxes, faiways, greens were rolling perfectly, my only gripe (and its a small one) is that the bunkers were a little packed in and hard, not what i would expect on this high end of a course. Other than that i would recomment this course to anyone that can afford it. Very nice lay out and the views are second to none...

Played with a friend who got us out with the "players club" rate ($188.00) - - which is still three-quarters of my monthly golf course budget. Would I play there again? No. It's nice...but - I like to play a lot of golf and that's just a budget-buster for me. Was it nice? Oh, yeah...it was sweet. They have probably the nicest greens I've played all year...I think that might be what the pros putt on!! The fairways were lush...the rough was...well...it's best if you don't find out. Stay in the short grass. Course knowledge is a must if you wanna go low. The overall experience with the course, the staff, the practice facilities, the locker rooms...first-class all the way!! No complaints. For the prices they are charging...one should expect no less!!

But I'm just a poor clergyman and I'm not in the category of folks who can afford Pelican Hill as a "regular diet".

#18 is a great closing hole. A real challenge of risk-reward. A par is a good score on this monster hole!

played South course and was pleased; great service and great condition (not quite as good as Trump Nat'l); greens were rolling near 11 so practice green near range is deceiving; pricey at $250 but a nice one-timer on vacation; gives you a good mix of tree-lined and ocean holes plus some target golf; one of the priciest in SoCo but probably the most upper-end experience I've had in SoCo (Aviara, Maderas, Trump, Torrey, Pelican Hill); cer tainly not the best value; they have a nice range but you're required to hit from mats; be careful of North course as attendant said they are having trouble with the greens on that side; be sure you get a yardage book as it's needed to complement the range finder they provide

Played both the north and the south a lot. They both are great visual pieces of art and would suggest playing them any chance you get.

The owners are getting ready to close the course for a major redevelopment, so this was not the best time to give it a fair review. The course is beautiful, but they seemed to have some drainage issues, and it was very soggy or damaged/under repair in quite a few spots.

It's a fabulous course with million-dollar views, and I look forward to going back in 2007.

had first teetime on 7/26. Course conditions were great. Everything was in pristine condition except the ball marks on the greens. The greens rolled really smoothly, but there were many old ball marks that hadn't healed. These were mainly cosmetic and did not really affect the roll. It's a shame to see such a top notch course not being taken care of by its patrons. What ever happened to the "fix three marks per green" rule. You get on a green, you look for other marks to fix including your own. Oh well. It was also very annoying that we saw at least three grounds crew members at EVERY STINKING HOLE. That really messed things up. There was one hole where 5 non-groundscrew members were standing on the green while we were waiting to hit our approaches. After waiting 5 minutes, we just decided to hit. When they heard the ball being hit, they scattered like crazy. It was pretty funny. The course was great; the grounds crew was not. For $175, keep the grounds crew as out of the way as possible.
