Made a bit of a drive out to El Prado to play Sat 3/4 at 11:15. Having read the reviews had an idea of what to expect but not sure it even met my lowered expectations. First off, driving range was closed due to, I'm guessing, the recent rains making it hard for the ball retriever to work properly. For what it's worth, it's a nice grass range so if it'd been open that would have been a nice feature. There's a quaint restaurant next to the pro shop that serves a decent breakfast as well as sandwiches, etc. A couple of putting greens available as well. Teed off around 11:20, and almost immediately got that feeling it was going to be a long day. First drive wound up in the fairway in a bare spot which was a sign of things to come. Greens were in decent shape, rolling medium fast and tee boxes were okay. No real consistency to the rough, it was either going to be fairly thick or totally bare. Fairways are a mess, lots of bare spots with divots, so hard to find good lies. Wasn't in many bunkers but they appeared to range from thin and playable to caked in mud/water logged. Saw the marshal once, at the third tee box telling our group having just come off a par 3 that we needed to pick up the pace. Meanwhile, we were up against the group in front all day and then at the turn at 10 wound up stacked 4 groups back! Really poor POP lead to a 5.5 hour round. A shame the upkeep is in such poor shape since the track itself is sorta fun, but coupled with the POP it's not a place i'd make any sort of effort to return to unless conditions were to dramatically improve.
