Tee'd it up here on Sunday the 1st and zoomed through the round, trying to finish before the first short day of the fall :(

I absolutely loved this course. It's an old, traditional layout and I found it to be a stiff challenge but fair. You get all sorts of holes out here and really have to not only think your way around the course but use every shot in the bag. I know it's a private track but if you get the chance to get out here and play you definitely should.

I think the course was coming out of some maintenance so wasn't in the most pristine shape, but still well above average. I think I had the thought going in that since this is a private club in Rancho Santa Fe that we'd be looking at Augusta-esque conditions, but that wasn't the case.

However, it was easy to see that this course, in tournament shape would be really awesome. I was in about a baker's dozen of the many traps out here and they were perfect. The greens, still showing a little wear from a recent aerification rolled really quick and true. Very tricky to read with the rolling nature of the terrain and the fact that you're probably only a few miles from the ocean and most (all of them?) run East and West.

I felt really lucky to get invited out here at the last minute and can't wait to get back. I think as far as layouts go, this might be my favorite in San Diego so far. I could play this course every day and never get sick of it. There's just so many shots you have to hit and really think you're way around the course.
