I played Mountain Dell Canyons course on Tuesday July 26th. We had a 9:30 tee time and we were on the tee box on time. I don't usually carry my bag but I met an old friend who was carrying his bag so I joined him. This turned out to be a strenuous test because of the elevation change, but it was very enjoyable especially with the fresh mountain air.

It was a very warm day with threats of thunderstorms.

The tee boxes on the course were a little worn but you could always find a healthy spot to tee it up. I will say there were multiple tee boxes where it was difficult to find a level spot to stand.

The greens were well maintained and in good shape. The ball rolled well and true. You had to remind yourself that even though a putt looked up or downhill they were going to be affected by the direction of the canyon.

The fairways were in great shape and showed no signs of wear from the recent heat wave. The rough was about an inch deep and not much of a factor. You certainly wanted to be accurate off the tee as most of the holes were lined with trees or bushes. Again not many level lies to be found.

This is a local government run course but it was well run and the staff was efficient and friendly.

I enjoyed this round and we were treated with some visitors on the 8th and 9th holes. A mother moose and her twins were enjoying the leaves of the fairway lined trees. I pulled my drive into the tree line and ended up about 10 feet away from them. We patiently waited for them to meander off before playing on. What a treat that was.

Our pace of play was just under 4 hours.

I enjoyed this course and found it worth the green fees and I will return if in the area.
