My buddy made a tee time for today. When we arrived we were told we were playing the front side twice. When booking the time he was not told this. When we got to the first tee a single was coming off the front nine. He told us the greens were sanded on one half which also was not stated when the time was booked. We returned to the golf shop and received a refund. This is not the first time we have received surprises at this course. We won't be surprised again. Terrible service!

Played 2/16/17. POP was 4:35 for a weekday. Course made more difficult and less enjoyable due to green aerification performed on 2/13-14. Half of the greens were aerified, fertilized and heavily topdressed, creating challenging putting situations. On the sand topdressed half the greens were stimping around 4.5-5 while the non-aerified portion were around 9.5. Greens, 3 & 16, were completely aerified. The putting cups were full of sand making it very difficult to place a straight flag on the bottom of the cup. Coring plugs were dumped in the playing area, unmarked to the right of Hole #3. Did noticed the greens being rolled. The heavy rains over the weekend will certainly help sand wash into the coring holes and smooth out the putting surface. The 2nd half of the greens are scheduled to be aerated the first week in March. I would hope that the greens will be completed healed and uniformed by April. Would be nice if Mgmt would offer some sort of discount and/or incentive to play half greens. Otherwise, be prepared to pay the full Southern CA resident rate of $64 to $83, depending on designated days. This course lacks aesthetics and fair playing conditions. at times, due to their mowing practices (or lack of). I noticed this to be a trend on most of JC Resorts courses, the exception being Rancho Bernado Inn which is mowed more like a resort than a daily fee course. Tees and roughs are dominated by Poa annua, which grows very rapidly during the Fall and Spring months. Tees were long and shaggy. You almost have to use a tee on the Par 3's, whether you want to or not. Balls hit in the rough can be very difficult to find, especially with heavy dew. Our group lost 3 balls in the first 5 holes as we just missed or hit through the fairway. In areas previously mowed, the long clippings (hay) can hide the ball and create challenging shots. Blowing after mowing would be helpful. There are also a lot of wet areas in the far roughs (right of #5 fwy for example) because mowers can't get in to mow without getting bogged down. Grass exceeds 6 inches in length in these areas. Even sunlight can't get through. The long roughs can add several strokes to your handicap and cause undue delays searching for errant shots. Fairways were thinned in some area but generally have better Bermuda turf coverage than most of the surrounding courses. Fairways showed GUR on large bare areas. Carts are fairly new with GPS which we found yardages to be spot on. Sand traps have good brown sand. Some greenside bunkers are slow to drain, with standing water. Traps were being edged during our visit. Would be nice if the workers moved to another area or cut off their equipment while we were blasting out of them. Tall broadleaf weeds, fescue and clumps of grass surround many of the fairway bunkers making it very difficult to create a shot. Driving range is mats (20) only using Taylormade range balls in good condition. The range is about 150 yds from the clubhouse and first tee. The clock on the driving range doesn't work. Tasty premade sandwiches are available in the F&B area. 20oz soft drinks are $3, with craft beers $6 and up. When this course is mowed out and the greens are fast and true, it is one of the best tracks in the North County area, well worth the money. Sadly, the existing conditions are typically found on a municipal type courses making it difficult to justify the cost to play while just adding punishing strokes to your handicap. We're planning on returning in mid-April.

First time off Wednesday at 6:48 on a brisk morning. Lots of sprinklers running, so it was plenty wet, but I don't complain when courses are watering. Just happy they have the ability to do so. (But it was very wet, not much roll, and the greens were much slower as a result.

Fairways generally were good, with just a few areas of concern. About 4-5 greens were partially punched, which made for some inconsistent putting surfaces. Otherwise they were OK. I was in four greenside bunkers; 3 were great, and the other was horrible. Tee boxes were lush and well manicured.

I like this course a lot! I know it isn't the most difficult course, but playing from the tips provides me with enough challenge to satisfy my needs. (I also enjoy the fact it has no par four holes over 400 yards, which means I can actually reach every hole in regulation) As a senior+, and too stubborn to play the "appropriate" tees, I struggle with the 400++ yardage holes now. I figure by the time I get smart enough to move up, even those tees will be too long !

Great fall day. Always have a good time here. Pro-shop was great and being first out, no issues with pace of play.

Greens: . Medium to slow speed and a little bumpy. Almost fully "healed", should be in great condition within a week.

Fairways: in better than average condition with some marked GUR.

Rough: anywhere from 1 to 3" high.

Traps: not raked with some hard pan lies.

POP: just over 4 1/2 hours.

Good cart service. Nice snack bar with a good selection of sandwiches and excellent salads.

Played 9/8, Thursday, as part of a GK Review Guru foursome of sixpez, kg1791 and itslikeimsayin. We teed it up at 12:00pm and finished in just under 4 ½ hours. What a great time with my fellow GK’ers on a course layout I instantly liked and enjoyed all day. Holes were framed nicely by large assortment of colorful trees, narrow in most cases off the tee demanding focus, some dog legs, elevation changes, some water hazards, many challenging bunkers (especially greenside), good sized undulating greens, some long par 5’s, medium length par 3 and mostly medium to short par 4’s. The layout really fit my eye well upon first time playing. Never an easy hole but never an overly tough hole. As for the conditions, the back nine was IMO in better condition than the front nine. At first I was little let down by the large amounts of brown dry bermuda turf sections in the fairways, as well as invasive kikuyu grass on the opening holes. But gradually those blemishes decrease giving way to better and better conditioned fairways. In general the fairways provide good lies all day. The surrounding turf of the green complexes which were mostly bermunda, some kikuyu and even dashes of rye grass were predominantly lush throughout the round. The greenside bunkers had consistently good, not excellent, sand that was playable. The greens with exception to some small bare sections almost exclusively found on the front nine, and mostly on the back of greens, were in good shape. They rolled mostly smooth, were around a 10 speed, held shots well. As for the rough it was a mix of mostly kikuyu/some bermuda on front nine and mostly bermuda/some kikuyu on the back nine. It was minimally penal being cut low but not as low as the fairways. The tee boxes were in good shape, lush, with exception to the 4th hole back tee which I comically hammered in my tee. As for the service, I was disappointed we did not see an on course beverage cart. Not sure why. Maybe they are not out on the course weekday afternoons? But the staff I did encounter all had a good attitude and was accommodating. Especially in the proshop. On a final note, highly recommend the $6 hot dog and chips combo at the turn. Nice quality good sized hot dog and delicious homemade chips. I will be back to play Twin Oaks Golf Course for sure.

We had a great time out there along with Itslikeimsayin and kg1791, teeing off at noon and finishing about 4.5 hours later. I think I like the actual layout here more than anyone else in my group. There's just something about this course I like, though someday I'd love to play it in primo conditions because it's an aesthetically pleasing setting and design that loses a little something when there isn't much definition.

Kevin and Mark covered the conditions pretty nicely. Tee boxes okay. Fairways and rough very dappled in color (hence that lack of visual definition), but playing better than they looked. Fairways primarily a pretty nice bermuda base, with occasional patches of kikuyu and some scattered bare spots, too. Rough is a mix of three different grasses. Primarily kikuyu, with some areas of rye and bermuda just to make it interesting. Basically no two lies in the rough will be similar here, ranging from tight lies to very thick cabbage. I wasn't in any bunkers, so no comments there. Greens receptive and got a tad bumpy late in the day. Some damaged areas around the edges as Mark mentioned, but nothing that really affected play much.

Great deal on an enjoyable course. This is a track I would like to play more often because I do really like it, but their regular rates always seem a bit too high compared to good values that can be found at many similar/better courses throughout North SD and Temecula area.

Took advantage of a GK Review Guru offering and joined JohnnyGK, sixpez and kg1791 for a really fun afternoon round here on Thursday. Thanks guys, especially Johnny for negotiating these amazing deals. No beverage cart out on the course today. A water jug on No. 16 was dry but then an employee arrived to switch it out and even had full cups of ice cold water for us in the meantime, so that was a nice save from a service standpoint. POP was right around 4:30.

Conditions were quite good overall, with the course playing better than it looked. Greens were running medium speed and accepted full shots very well. On the flip side, they were slightly bumpy and also nearly every green had troubled bare spots around the edge/near the fringe in spots. Some also had a patchwork of new sod either on the green or just off the green. Fairways were pretty good, dappled in color between medium green and brown. I got a few thin lies but mostly the fairways were decent. The 11th fairway had a large section roped off as GUR. The rough was a mixture of different grasses, mostly lush but I did find a bare spot here and there. There were some selected areas of rough that were quite deep, too, almost like grass bunkers. Sand traps were odd in that it was some of the best sand I've played in a while, but they weren't very well maintained: lots of unraked footprints (not really the course's fault). Tee boxes good/decent all day, except No. 4 which was rock hard.

This was my first time here. The layout didn't captivate me much. Decent overall with a few nice holes, but nothing overly memorable as a whole. Course is in good shape. Tee boxes were very good, fairways were good and the greens were mostly good with a few of them having some trouble spots. I thought the sand in the bunkers was good. Played the Blue Tees which is a little long for me at 6500 yards. There are some short par 4's where accuracy is needed off the tee. Pace of play was about 4 and a half hours. I think we could of played a little faster but there were two sets of twosomes ahead of us and they both looked like they each had someone who is new to golf. Found the course to be challenging and would recommend it

The condition of the Golf Course in general is better than most courses but it does have some areas that need work and hopefully with some rain it will get there. It's obvious that the course management (JC Golf) is doing what they can to give you the best experience possible.

The pro shop is nice and well stocked. The bar has quick grab and go eats which helps to speed up the pace. The starter was a very nice guy who was diligent in getting the groups out on time.

The worst back-up we experienced all day was on the 2nd hole because it's a reachable Par 5 so you have many golfers trying to get their early eagle. I would guess our wait was 10 minutes but after that it seemed to run pretty smoothly. I was surprised to see our time was 4 hours and 45 minutes for the round because I didn't feel like we were going that slow. It might be a testament to the variety of holes on this course that keeps you interested.

There is a good variety of holes in both length and playing style. Some holes have landing areas that are best to try and hit to if you want to avoid awkward lies. Some areas to the edges of the fairways are bare but you can avoid them with well struck shots. Some of the greens are in different stages of turf repair. They'll need a little more time to recover.

In general it's a fun course that I would definitely play again.
