Played on August 22, 2009 with Moneysworth just before a houseboat trip. Beautiful vistas from nearly every hole. Great contrasts with the green grass and red rocks. Many blind tee shots make it a bear for newbies. Afternoon winds are a big factor.
We got a little dust storm on the 18th that reminded us of the recent movie, The Mummy! We saw the dust cloud coming, and I just hit my last approach up to 18 green when the cloud of dust and 40 m.p.h. winds forced everyone off the course. We finished, though: bogie for me and par for Jim. The wind was so bad, 17 boats were lost on the lake. It appears that this course could use a little more maintenance: Shaggy greens, fairways, and tee boxes. The rough on 13 was being mowed and clippings were piled up everywhere. Most putts could be struck firmly directly at the hole, playing very little break. I think with the term National in the name, the course could up the level of maintenance.
