Played here on 01/01/15 starting out the new year! Stayed with family who live at The Villages and it was about a 45 minute ride, definitely worth it. The course let my dad (who doesn't golf) ride along for the cart fee so no trouble there. Wouldn't be a bad choice for someone on a trip to/from World Woods. Has a similar feel to those courses with the sandy soil, pine trees, and waste areas.

The course is part of a community that is located about 20 minutes west of I-75 out in the country. The community has never taken off and there are plenty of empty lots. The clubhouse is actually a converted large home so that is making good use of what's available! From what I've found the course can get ranked as one of the top public courses in Florida. I paid $45 which was a good rate and I'd recommend playing here. It's a lot more interesting than your average course in Florida!

Played the blue tees which play 72.6/139/6729. The front nine is more compact with some back and forth holes separated by pine trees and natural mounds. Overall the front felt a bit squished, but the back has a more modern routing with plenty of space and most holes in their own little world. There is some minor elevation change, but the biggest challenges are all the bunkers/waste areas, some water hazards, and slopes around the greens. I'd say it is open off the tee which I like. Playing here previously would have helped as there were some slopes off the greens which would feed the ball onto them. I'm undecided if I think the green complexes as a whole are too severe. Picking lines off the tee is important here. There are multiple water falls and plenty of domestic landscaping so it was a "pretty" course to play.

The course was in great shape considering that it played firm. The smooth greens rolled quick so I had to be defensive and I had a nice lie in the fairways with only a few divots to worry about. A few burnt out spots that were sanded around the edges of the greens which could affect chips though.
