Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played in a tournament today on Lakes. Not sure any maintenance has been done since last weeks city championship. Tees had not been mowed, sand traps had standing water, little sand and weeds growing in them. Seems since the management doesn't care about maintaining the course, players don't either. Unfortunately was in several unraked bunkers, even though players walk right by the rakes. Fairways were decent, although they had several uncut grassy areas and/or weeds. Greens were uncut, bumpy and very very slow (maybe running at a 6). American Golf has one more year on there contract, and I don't expect them to do anything to improve the course conditions. Between Buena and River Ridge, not sure which course is in better shape. Save your golf money and play one of the other neighboring courses.
Nice to see water in the lakes and thick growth beyond the rough. Fairways were very wet and being aerated today. Lots of unfilled divots in the fairways and ground under repair. Greenskeeper must have been mad as pins were placed on slopes near edge of greens. Greens were quick but many unrepaired divots. Played in under 4 hours.
Tee boxes are a mess with divots and bare spots. Fairways have numerous divots and several types of grasses. Rough is weeds or bare areas. Traps are hard pan and not well maintained. Greens are the only bright spot, some ball marks but putt well. Hopefully the management will invest in the course as they did in the banquet room and pro shop.
Great customer service. Short from the blues but the smallest greens I’ve ever played. Course is target golf with numerous elevation changes. Read the tips on the score card for help. Good luck and have fun
Greens were very firm and running 12 or higher. If you don’t hit the right area your ball can roll off the greens. Fairways had thin lyes with numerous GUR marked. Rough was very penal and traps could use more sand. No cart girl but golf staff was great.
The greed of River Ridge's management was evident today. The lakes course should never have been open for play. Standing water or severely wet fairways and rough. Traps were muddy lakes. We damaged the course just walking (sloshing) through every fairway. Holes 11-13 were closed. May need a week to dry out
Course was in decent shape. Traps could use more sand. Today they had 10 red flag placement with a couple of holes that were in crazy locations. Nice track and challenging. Hope American Golf puts some time and money into both courses
Drove by this course. Everything is brown and dead except the greens. Noticed staff watering the greens. Don’t waste your time or money here
Got paired with 3 locals that helped with many tee shots. Shorter course but fun and challenging. Great views with tough undulating greens. No driving range but you can hit into a net. Temp green on 10.
First and last time I’ll play this course. Course were good and a little challenging. Greens were on the slower side fairways could be better with no rough. Traps had good sand. Pace of play was painfully slow. No marshal although when I spoke to the pro shop afterwards they said they had a marshal. Cart person only on weekends. Resort and course look a little beaten down
Was the 4th group out yesterday, unfortunately the 2nd group was up to 2 holes behind by the 9th. The marshall spoke with them but had no effect. course was in descent shape and greens ran fairly smooth. many areas of the course have been over watered, with ponds developing in low areas. sand traps were basically mud pits. SCGA wants to save the munis, for what some of the munis charge for the poor conditions and fair customer service maybe we should close lesser performing courses. as for river ridge, please contact Oxnard City Council and ask that they do not renew American Golf's contract
Haven’t played here in several years but what great condition the course was in. Fairways and rough very green and lush. Greens firm and running fast with several run offs on most greens. Was not in any traps but they are working on many of them and marked GUR. Great customer service no cart person although they provide complementary bottled water. If you get the chance to play this course I highly recommend it.
