Day two of my Colorado swing two weeks ago was another new private club in Englewood, CO called Meridian Golf Club. This is a quality track for sure, but very different to what you would expect in this part of of the Denver area. It's nothing like The Ridge or those types of courses with lots of trees and elevation switches throughout the course, but instead it's a relatively flat course with minimal trees but a few solid and scary water features and simply length and rough (think fescue) to deal with around the 18. There are definitely some solid carries to worry about but for the most part it's pretty straightforward, but you can get very easily penalized if not on target. There are a lot of native areas throughout that will eat up anything wayward. From what I learned from the CO guys I was playing with, this club is one of the more affordable private clubs in Denver, and it has a fun reputation as a party place. I'm good with that. Conditions, as expected, are very good. Very smooth and fast greens (with a ton of break and difficult lines to read), lush fairways (albeit not quite as impressive as The Ridge currently), very penal rough and native areas as mentioned before, perfectly manicured tee boxes with varying lengths (and the tips here go real long), and bunkers that were very well maintained. It's pretty much everything you would expect in terms of conditions for a private course, but the landscape and layout is just slightly less overwhelming than you might find at other clubs in this scenic part of the country. I will also be adding pictures of all 18 holes later so keep an eye out for those to see what I mean. I would certainly love to come back and play this course again as I feel I could do a lot better with a tiny bit of course knowledge and a driver that I was familiar with now!
