not a 'players' course, but what would bring me back there is the beauty, it just feels good to be out there and that is quite an accomplishent for any course. I liked the bridges, the cart paths, the views from the tees, clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop, parking, in other words the Total Experience of a round of golf here should be ranked quite high. If you are alright hitting a hybrid off of most tees and hitting mid to long irons into the greens then you will do fine. The bunkers are very penal in where they are placed and the sand is not high quality. Some of the holes are just so beautiful and a few are very tough such as 17 and 18.

I used to love this course but the greens look like the moon. They are so beat up and apparently no one knows how to repair their divots.

Drove over from San Francisco (7/3/06) and I liked the course, but I do agree with jimpaige below. There are other courses I well play before comming back here. That being said the staff was great and got me out as a single in about 1/2 hr. and thay were charging regular rate when most other courese were at holiday rates.

Big disappointment. Dont waste you time if you are looking for something special. Golf Week rated in "Top 20 courses you can play in CA"-- it is short (lots of layups off the tees) , not much character, narrow, uses lack of flat lies & the daily wind to make course challenging.-- Overall it looks like the designers jammed a course into too little land. You have to drive through a neighborhood to get there and its just stuck in a valley. Lots of better course to play and better scenery in the area at same or cheaper: Roddy Ranch, Shadow Lakes (Troon), Hiddenbrooke, even Deer Ridge. I would take Canyon Lakes over Callippe.

PLAY THIS COURSE!!...I have played most of the courses in the Bay Area and this course (opened in Nov 2005) is a great addition for the Bay Area golfers. I played Saturday, June 3rd in the morning with one of the clubs I belong to and had heard good things about this course. Needless to say, it met all of my expectations and more. We played the whites at only 6000 yards, which is much shorter than I usually play, but being long on this course only helps you on a couple of holes. You need a well rounded game for this course. The designer did a really good job at making sure each hole challenged a different part of your game. This is evident in my scores. I had several pars on holes that I was able to drive and get up and down, but on other holes that challenged my accuracy I doubled, trippled and even maxed out on a couple of holes. The course has a number of old trees, but the new ones they planted will really change the course in a 5-10 years when they narrow the fairways. This course has a number of natural preserve areas that you can't go in, so you tend to lose balls there. The fairways have many undulations and you will have slanted lies at times. The bunkers are in great condition and soft (except for the 16th hole). The greens are really challenging and have many breaks. They are a bit slow, but then again if they were much faster, you won't have a lot of one putts...think 3 putts. The 18th hole is one of the hardest finishing holes I have played. It almost doesn't fit in with the rest of the course. Usually, you think the 18th will be an interesting but rewarding (ie. birdie) hole, but this hole is a par 5 that is so narrow and has two carries into a tough green that you will be glad to walk away with a boggey. It kind of ends the round on a down note, unless you escape with a par. In total, this course is not only a great course you have to play its a great deal too. Get out there and play this course!!!

Fine new course. When almost all NorCal courses are playing as muddy swamps, I did not pick up mud on my ball once all day. Very nice condition, good range, good restaurant, nice people. I had to use every club in my bag on the excellent variety of holes. The only thing that kept Callippe from being one of my favorite courses after playing it for the first time, was the slow greens. Someone in the restaurant was saying that the local men's club complained that the course was too tough with fast greens. Too bad. Anyway, I plan to play it as often as I can, while it still looks natural (and hardly has any houses built around it.)

A great and challenging layout consisting of two distinct nines. There are many opportunities for different strategies in the play of many of the holes. The front nine meanders along a meadow with slight undulations, but still trouble in the manner of "Environmental Sensitive" areas. This means if you hit your ball into these areas it's as if you hit it into a lake. You cannot go into these areas for any reason. The back nine gets tighter and climbs up and down hilly terrain. Great greens throughout in spite of the very heavy play. It's not an easy walking course, but for most it's not a problem. Really only two spots are tough to walk. Up the very uphill 11th hole, and the hill to the clubhouse after you've finished the round. Very helpful staff and overall a great value for the price.
