Course was in as good of condition as I've played in the past few years. Greens still slightly bumpy from March maintenance but should be very good shortly. Tee boxes are dreadful. The only real negative to my round.

-great experience to play the storied course
-love the sf cypress tree lined fairways >> gotta keep it straight or else...
-wet when i played, so greens were slow

The layout is solid, with interesting and challenging holes featuring significant elevation changes. However, though course conditions are improved in many places; it still falls short of the conditions at nearby Harding Park. Some greens are in the midst of being replaced, many tee boxes are not level. Fairways are good for the most part, but muddy patches remain. Don't pay full price, but if you can play for ~$50-60, you'll get what you pay for.

It's been awhile since I played here. They have made remarkable strides in improving conditions. I would now recommend.

This course must have seen some recent improvement based on previous reviews. "Fair" is not a rating it deserves. This old classic was in great shape with firm, tightly mown fairways - I could not find a daisy. Some tees were sanded, greens not to fast, but smooth. Got lucky with the weather - it was a sunny day, in the high 70s. Very pretty under these conditions. Pace of play was also a pleasant surprise - just over 4 hours! With an online discount, this was a steal.

I played this course about a month ago. heres what I found. The other posters are right,its nothing special ,and never for a high fee. even the online discount at 30 dollars is iffy. remember this is san fran freezing cisco... in the summer. so the day I played, at noon, sported a thick windy heavy fog rolling right through the whole course the whole 4 hours I was there. That alone,playing in this kind of late fall chilly windy unpleasant weather, is reason enough not to playhere again. and in fact,I wont. but its also because the pace of play,with 4-somes on every tee,fairway,and green,was so slow, try standing and waiting 5 minutes on every shot In this foggy cold. what fun!!
and this was a weekday.no, wait, let me be honest, we werent waiting 5 minutes on every shot , it was really more like 4 minutes. sometimes 5.
So whats the course like? well, the last 6 holes are scenically nice. they would be perfect if they were on Tilden in berkeley. now that would make a sweet golf course. take the handful of rinky-dink filler holes at Tilden(you know the ones) and replace them with the Presidio's last 6 holes . ...and get it the hell out of san francisco's rotten fog. gee whiz. who needs it.
at the presidio, in this windy fog, be prepared to hit a 3 or 4 iron on the 150 yard par 3 . be prepared to put on a windbreaker over your sweatshirt.be prepared for a slow pace of play. and like others said...forget about the practice range. when I got back home to alameda, it was sunny and 72 degrees and I was back to reality again. goodbye presidio.

this course annoys me: from the overpirced range balls (and range mats angled diagonally facing the range (try alligning)) to the non-existent club house.

Played the course last week on a golfnow 40 dollar special. Admittedly there are some beautiful moments around the course, and I played in the morning and was basically undisturbed.

Presidio has aerated, a good thing as it indicates a level of hopeful commitment to the repair of a good course gone bad under worse management. However, they are being negligent in their treatment of golfers by failing to inform them ahead of time of the sanded greens. They have been losing regular golfs at a rapid rate due to the condition of the course and the treatment of the guests. Their tournament bookings have kept them alive but will eventually suffer attrition as a byproduct of the condition of the course and the hospitality that doesn't extend to regular guests.
