Slow course. Got on around 12:30, and barely finished around 6. 5somes here. Fairways are ok at best, but not consistently lush, which is why you can drive on them on Par 3 holes. Very relaxing and clam place to play. Flat course, which is nice if you are going to walk. Long course (7000 yards) if you play from the gold tees.

early tee time weds morning. There is still trash and tire marks, and portable lights on the course due to the rose bowl game. Conditions of the course is typical muni course. Not very good, but not that bad. Pace of play early morning was 3 and half hours.

Nice to play at the Rose Bowl, except soon after UCLA games when the course is the tailgate zone. Course is kept in good condition, yet can get slow. IMHO, prices are a little steep for what you get... Continue »

Pretty big course. There are 2 18 holes courses, and both take a lot of time to complete due to so much waiting. Lots of older people come here so play is pretty slow, but it is nice. You have the mountains as a backdrop and the Rose Bowl in view part of the time. I'd recommend to play during summer. Lots of fun holes to play and a good time is always to be had here. In the fall/winter, this place turns into a parking lot for UCLA football.

The course is not in the best of shape. I understand having to create a revenue stream but the 20 or so portable lights that line the first three fairways so they can get golfers out before sunrise do not add to the beauty of any golf course. Parking 10,000 cars on the course for UCLA football games don't help the condition either. While I used to love this track with the daily fees rising and having to put up with the 5 1/2 hour rounds, BBQ coals in the fairways, beer bottles and bottle caps everywhere, bare spots and car tire tracks all around, greens that bounce your ball instead of allowing a roll beacuse people won't repair a ball mark and some of the most grouchy staff around, I am sorry to say but I think you can find a better place to play for your money at this time. I would try back after the football season.

While some improvements have been made in Tee Boxes and Traps, the greens have become terrible. So much so, that a full refurbish has been started on them. This means that now (9/17/08) they have many temp "green" holes with the cup just stuck in the fairway. This should be an alert! Also, since it is used for parking during football season at the Rose Bowl, it becomes pretty scruffy on Mondays...UCLA home game days. This situation is also true for Brookside #2. There are other reasons to carefully check before you come to play there. Expect the conditions to be rough until after football season and refurb.

Teed off at 8:50am, 6/28. I grew up playing this course, and lately each time I go back I'm pleasantly surprised. They are making a big effort to keep this very busy course in good condition. The new bunkering is great, the greens are much firmer than they used to be, and it's still a pretty good value. Problems: lots of ball marks on the greens, and they still put out FIVESOMES! The five in front of us fell a hole behind, so did they send the marshall out? Nope, they put a group in front of them on the 10th. Come on!

Played #2 yesterday and #1 is in the same shape after the rain. The fairways are a little hairy but good. The greens are fast and smooth.
