I played this course for the first time as a walk-on in a fivesome on the morning of June 5 and experienced some short waits on tees, but finished in 4.5hrs. nonetheless. I found the course in decent condition, with challenging rough, and an interesting layout. My major complaint is that the greens were slow and bumpy.

Course is difficult as are the staff. Never on time with tee time, always puting walkons off between times that get regulars behind schedule.Marshals on the course just cruise around ,when you show them some players behind , they defend them and you continue to wait ever shot while some groups are never waiting, they are so far behind the group in front. Need to improve staff to make this course enjoyable.

I played El Dorado on 5-27-03 for the first time. They were aerating the greens as play was going on; they didn't have a sign in the pro shop or bother to tell anyone as they collected your $29. The rough is very high and I wouldn't recommend playing there for several weeks due to aeration (even though it was the shallower type of aeration) and their cavalier treatment of the public ( if at all). Why not tell people upfront and give a break on the price? Greed!

The fairways are in good shape, the rough is very long and the greens are much slower than the practice green.

ALWAYS A NICE COURSE TO PLAY. WITH AS MANY TIMES THIS COURSE GETS PLAYED, THE GREENSKEEPERS DO A GREAT JOB OF KEEPING IT UP. TREES, TREES AND MORE TREES. KEEP IT IN THE FAIRWAY, ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO RECOVER IN THESE TREES BECAUSE THE ROUGH IS USUALLY LONG. PLENTY OF HOLES TO REALLY AIR OUT YOUR DRIVER. YOU CAN GET SOME NICE ROLE IN THE FAIRWAYS. TAKE A LUNCH BECAUSE IT'S ALWAYS A SLOW ROUND.

a great value. this is a fun yet difficult course. you must be straight off the tee or the tons of trees will definatly add strokes to your score. high handicappers play from the whites to avoid frustration and have a fun round. usually a five to six hour round as is tipacle on all long beach courses.
