This is one of my favorite courses. I have played here since i was a teenager and have always loved it. For the price you can"t find a better course to play on.

Played Sat 02/23. It was very crowded day. Everyone came out to play some golf before rain comes. With the rain we had for few days, fairways and greens were beautiful... awesome. Until ~1pm, we had sunshines. Weather was perfect, just feel great to be out playing golf.
Life is GOOD!
I haven't played here for a while. This course is very well conditioned course. Undulating fairways and elevated greens make this course very fun course. One day I will have nightmare scores and then few great scores. There are few well placed bunkers around the greens.
Some of them are very deep bunkers. Sands are about average.
Pace are always bit slow. I would recommend to walk if possible. No point to rent a cart and had to wait longer. Might as well walk and enjoy the exercise. Customer services are very good. Starter Ed, great guy. Always very nice and make you feel welcome. Can't be too upset even you had to wait couple of hours to get out.

Just played this course today. The greens are really firm due to a heat wave here in CA in the mid of Feb. This makes all the elevated greens on this course play like the U.S. Open, e.g. one bounce and the ball rolls off the green and drops off somewhere 10 feet below the level of the green.

Santa Anita is a fun, well-designed course that is well worth the green fee anytime of year. The architect made the most of an average tract of land by providing many interesting green complexes with elevated, canted putting surfaces and strategic bunker placement. There are a wide variety of holes and you need to use every club in the bag. While not a difficult course, you have to think on every approach shot - especially when the greens are as firm as they are right now. Recent course conditions are less than perfect but still very nice. Caution: the course does get very crowded and for good reason.

Played here 1/20/08. First group out at 0645. Frost on the fairways and greens but course was in good condition for this time of year. Greens were rock hard but rolled true. Great value!

This is the best course in Southern California at this time for the money and the conditions and the friendly staff. I play here all the time and I love it.
