It was a last minute decision on going for a round. It was a friend's idea to go for a Super Twitelite round after work; personally, as long as there was daylight, I am there. Did not get on the 1st tee til 435pm after all of the pre-booked; never knew that there were many golfers going out in the late afternoon....at least when I was told to be put on the waiting list...at 400pm???
It was finally " green light" for us at the 1st tee. It was actually moving quite fast in my opinion, i guessed everyone really want to get thru as much hole as they can before sundown; we were able to get through 16 before we had to call it quit. Great pace, 16 holes in just a little over 2 hours...$22 green fee w/ cart....Super TwiteLite it is....
Los Largos was just aerated about 2 weeks ago, greens are still recovering; there were in great shapes in my opinions.
Tee boxes, fairways, roughs, bunkers were all in great shapes; very well-maintenance and cared-great conditions. Greens were a bit slow but very playable, a couple of more weeks will indeed be awesome. I had a great time, had a great almost complete round, had a few great shots here and there, had a great price for tee time ..... had a great day.
Costa Mesa-Los Largos will definite be on my "come back" list.

Played 4/24 at 11 got out right on time. The staff here is not very friendly it always seems that they look down on younger players and dont want us out even though we are the ones spending more money than the senior circut that plays every day.
Tee- mostly decent a few uneven but the box was wide so you could find space.

Fairways- mixture of different types of grass same as rough just cut shorter. some points you could get under it some you couldnt

Green- punched a few days ago and beat up from overplay- when not punched they are real nice

Rough- same as fair way mixes of grass and hard as a rock or soft depending on where you were

Sand- Garbage- enough said haha

In all its a good price but you get what you pay for. also normally a 5+ hr round

the greens are great with a lot of undulations...hard to find a flat green so it is a challenge. tee box markers are the widest spread I have ever seen which makes it nice for teeing off. the sand traps were inconsistant and one i was in was hardly any sand and it was hard mud underneath which was a pain to hit from. the course overall is in great condition, but the pace of play was slow...they could space out the tee times a bit to make it better for everyone. Many traps were not raked....come on people...when you hit in the trap, rake after yourself...i found many footprints leading back to the grass where the player would have to step over the rake! it is there to use!

the greens were great...pins were in tough positions, tee box markers were the widest I have ever seen....no complaints, just nice to be able to pick your driving positions. pace of play was ok, course was crowded, didn't see a marshall, it is a great course with enough trees and water to keep it interesting...for a public course....you won't be dissapointed.

Played with silver miner today for our GK cup Match play and as the previous review this course is in bad shape and definitely shows what the drought has done. There are lots of hard pan areas and unfortunately for me i broke my pitching wedge in the rough because the ground was so hard. As most people know if you dont get out first its going to be a 5+ hour round and we got out at 10am and finished at 315-330 not good they allow to many five somes and 8 mins between tee times

Practice area- decent driving range 1/3 grass area 2/3 mats. Putting and chipping areas are kept nice and no complaints

Staff- this is a tough one. you never get much out of the staff here and today was no different the proshop guys were talking baseball with eachother and payed no attention to us other than to collect the 47 walking rate.

Tee Boxes- one of two nice conditions on the course was the wide open and lush tee boxes. you have plenty of options to play your shot as the markers were a good 20-30 feet wide

Fairway- one word TERRIBLE many different types of grass and not watered much maybe once a week if that. a lot of shots will end up with weird lies betwen types of grass and the ground is rock hard.

Rough- Just as bad as the fairway and you could not tell where it starts and ends.

Sand- i was in on sand trap and so was silver miner. they had a decent layer of sand but it looks like they took it right off the beaches from orange county not very fine some rocks.

Greens- Like always they do a great job on the greens and probably for the best because i think they would go out of business if they didn't.

Overall- even though i live 1 mile from this course i try not to play it because of long rounds and less than steller conditions

It's quite sad the sorry state thate Los Lagos is in now due to the water shortage. This had always been one of the better Orange County munis but now the course is pathetic. The only green on the site are the greens and the tee boxes. The fairways and rough are completely brown with many bare spots. The greens were extremely fast and combined with the sharp grades on many holes made putting very difficult. Let's pray for rain or else this land will soon become a cow pasture.

Not impressed with course conditions, biggest complaint is uncut fairways. I mean, really Costie, you can't mow the fairways for weekend players and charge them top dollar? And this place is all Kikuyu so you know what kind of lies you get ... in the middle of the fairway. Rant off.

Greens rolled nice, very nice. Quick-ish and true. Was in one bunker, good condition ... there, I said two things nice about the course. But that's all they'll get from me this time around.

Hey there fellow golfers. I just played Costa Mesa Los Lagos. Well, here we go. Upon arriving at the pro shop to check in I was greeted by a starter lacking personality. After checking in we proceeded to the tee with 3 groups in front of us and our tee time being 5 mins away. Luckily one group ahead of us decided not to play because they knew it was gonna be a long day. Since we drove all the way here and had never played here we deicided to stay. The grass on the tee box was pretty long. I don't like this because it feels I have to tee everything up higher than normal. Needless to say the grass was like this all over the course. The fairways were like hitting out of the 2nd cut and the greens were were a bit too long and slow as well. This course is fairly easy and pretty much flat. Wide open fairways with not much trouble to find. It was like playing Woodley lakes without the heat. Water came into play on one hole because I tried to carry the lake. Oh well, still made par. If you wanna practice your patience, not only during play but with golf course staff, then this is the course for you. I'm sorry to say but I will not return. Enjoy.

Hello all,
We wanted to play a new course that we have never played before, so we drove a bit far from the San Fernando Valley to Costa Mesa and tried Costa Mesa CC Los Lagos for $40 on Sunday at 1pm.

We arrived and we met with a starter with little personality, and seemed to want to brush us aside stating to let us know when everyone has arrived (we were standing right in front of him), maybe he thought we were a foursome instead of a two some. Anyway, he seemed very mechanical and lacked any personality.

We started about 20 minutes late as the course was running behind.

The tee boxes were in great shape, but for some reason, the tee boxes were usually the entire width of the tee box. Kind of an odd approach I thought, but I took advantage of them on occasion teeing from one side or the other depending on how the hole fit my eye and hole obstacles. Tee boxes were flat, but the Kikuyu grass was too long for the tee boxes. This is bad as your feet settle in too low. I got under a hybrid too much and next time I would play some shots without a tee.

Fairways were nice and green, the grass length just a hair too long but OK. No patches or problems to mention.

Greens were surprisingly nice, rolling maybe 9 on the stimp but consistent throughout which is a plus. The greens were also soft as well.

Bunkers were pretty decent, a few needed attention as the hackers/lazy people don't rake them.

The layout is pretty straight forward, just a couple holes where some basic course knowledge would have helped.

Nice facilities on this 36 hole site. They have a full bar and snack bar.

Overall a good experience, the course is not too challenging but fun for anyone. I thought it was a good value at $40 for Sunday twilight.
