played yesterday 5-28. Course conditions is always pretty good. Not the toughest layout (big fairways, not much undulation in the greens) but when the winds pick up, its always a challenge. Was the third group out on saturday and finish the round in 3 hours. Got lucky saturday morning as the wind was howling when we reach the 18th hole. The clubhouse restaurant has great food at a reasonable price.

Played yesterday at 10:28am. Course was pretty busy for a weekday but it moved along well as we ended in about 4 1/2 hours. They have 5 par 3s and 5 par 5s which was somewhat different experience. Most par 3s are on the long side but par 5s are relatively short. Course seems visually challenging with many bunkers but its fairly harmless as the fairways are very generous and you really have to hit it offline to lose a ball. Fairways were mostly good but the greens were very slow and bumpy. I don't know what normal condition of the greens are for this course but you would have to wait at least a month before the greens gets back to "normal/challenging". I heard it's a sister course to Desert Dunes. I think Dunes would be more challenging and Escena may be better for the couples golf outing.

Escena is in very good shape considering that it is mid August. This track is kept up in much better shape than other courses in the area this time of year. Greens are a touch slow but still in good... Continue »

Fun course with wide open fairways, long par 3's and water that comes into play on a number of holes. Come out and play while the rates are still great...just start early to beat the heat.

i might be a little biased due to the fact that i generally don't care much for nicklaus designed courses...the conditions were pretty darn good though. layout wise this course is way too easy. fairways are massive. go to this course with 2 golf balls and i guarantee you wont run out. i will say i was challenged on the par 3's though. 3 or 4 of them over 200 yards. aesthetically kind of average....didn't have high end feel.

bottom line this is a fun track, but i think there are better opportunities out there for tourists.

2nd round of the day on saturday the 29th. After playing desert dunes, this course was so easy. Big fairways, no out of bounds, and big greens. Due to aerated greens, my rating of the course is lower. They aerated the greens about a week ago, so wait about 2-3 weeks to recovery. Besides the greens, conditions of the course is immaculate. The first time i played here, they didnt have a real clubhouse or proshop. Now they have a beautiful modern clubhouse/restaurant that overlooks the course. Pace of play was horrible that day(5 hours in 90 plus degrees), but it is a holiday weekend. Not the courses fault. Customer service from the proshop, starter, and cart guys is a A+. I will be coming back.

I played Saturday, May 29, with a discount green fee of $35. The greens were not completely healed from aerification, but were very puttable and medium to medium-fast speed. The course layout (Nicklaus) is perfect for a resort course, with wide fairways and big greens. There are many memorable holes that wiggle right or left, and the pin placements can really affect the difficulty of many of the approach shots. One thing to mention is that there are few, if any, houses lining the course (owing to the collapse of the housing market). For now, all a player sees are the beautiful hills in the distance and an occasional plane taking off from the nearby airport. A great place for a fun day of vacation golf.

just finished up at escena, played for 35$ on an aeration special. they aerated on the 10th and although you could see signs greens were still fast and pretty smooth. They rolled them last night and we seen them cutting them this morning. this bodes well for the hot season coming up as their greens will heal before the intense heat hits. most other coachella xalley courses aerate when it's hot and therefore don't heal as fast. this too is a nicklaus course so it is very similar to pga west. most of trouble is around the greens with ample fairways but not quite as penal. long and difficult par 3's. closer and cheaper and probably better aesthetically looking as it is desert orientated. give it a try you will not be dissapointed.

Great track. Service is outstanding from the proshop to the restaurant. A must play especiall with the summer deals starting to kick in.
