Played 4/20/05. No doubt this is my favorite place to play. Other than the greens being punched and the bunkers in need of sand the course is in excellent condition. Customer service is top notch and overall a super value. Attention fellow golfers, if you have the chance to play here, don't pass it up.

Good course, reasonably priced with a GolfQ coupon for $50 on weekdays.

From one perspective, it's a one-hole course: the magnificent par 3 14th down into the depths of the quarry, with an enormous rock face rising up behind the green. It really does give the impression you are playing golf in Yosemite Valley.

The rest of the course is more than adequate, but not many of the holes struck me as being ideal natural holes, like, say, the 10th at Sandpiper is such a joy because the land is so perfect for a golf hole. Instead, I kept thinking, "Boy, Curley and Schmidt did a good job making this awkward stretch of terrain into a decent golf hole."

From the other, less churlish perspective, Oak Quarry gives you 17 fine golf holes and one staggeringly great one, so why complain?

Further, there are no homes anywhere near the course, and you have spectacular views of snow-capped Mt. San Gorgonio on many holes, most notably the 15th where you drive out of a vast slot carved in the rock directly at Old Grayback.

One interesting thing about the course is that most of the length is in the par 3s and par 5s. From the 6600 yard blue tees, there are no par 4s over 406. For a shorter hitter like me, that's an attractive set up.

The hole corridors are adequate but not particularly generous in width, although you will lose balls in the many staked off environmental areas. Rustic Canyon this is not in terms of width, but it's more playable than many 1970-1980s courses built on similarly rugged terrain.

Conditioning seemed fine on April 14th although perhaps not up to the finickiest standards, but that's not a big issue for me. The sand in the traps seemed too hard to explode out of so I ended up chipping out.

I was a little disappointed that all the local grasses on the hillsides above the course had turned brown already this Spring, but their bushes are still verdant and some are flowering.

I think for the drive and the $$ they could still throw in the range balls if they still want to be "the best course in So. Cal." Also their senior rate starts at 55. I think it should be 50, just like the senior tour. Give some back!!!!!

Course in good shape, but do agree, greens get chewed up a little, mostly from golfers who do less than adequate job of fixing ball marks.

Cart person did remark that effective 3-21 they were going to commence their goofy aerification schedule of 2 greens/week til done. Which means that for the next 3 months all greens will be different speeds again.

Great Course and the Veiws are spectacular. Both are very worth the price. However, the service needs some help. The parking lot helper seemed as if he was having a bad day, and questioned us twice if we were playing golf. He was not very inviting. Then there seemed to be a problem with the guy at the check-in counter (not our group) but, we watched his terrible attitude towards a golfer that seemed a bit confused. Member service is going to be the key to the success of this course. Becuase the course has everything to get you there but, can be damaged if you do not keep them coming. We will be back because we still truely enjoyed ourselves. ONce again Great course.

Still one of the gems of SoCal golf. As of 3/8, it was in terrific shape! Greens were a little slow and lumpy, but that's been my only complaint since The Quarry opened. They still hold well and putting on them is fairly consistant, overall.

The staff here is friendly, helpful, and - I gotta say, some of the best I've encountered. A real "country club" feel from the moment you arrive. Behind the counter in the pro-shop, the guys are great, the starter is professional and helpful. On-course marshals are scarce, and I guess they could do a better job of keeping play moving....but we finshed in 4.5 hous, so I have no complaints.

Worth the drive from anywhere!

Heading to this course Friday, February 25th, I had high expectations for the layout, but medium expectations for conditioning given the 7.5 rating on this site at the time as well as all of the recent rain. I must say, it is an absolute CRIME that this is anything below an 8...the fairways were like carpet, and the greens were mostly pristine - they could have been a bit quicker, but overall, it's tough to ask for much more out of a golf course.

The layout, as is little secret around here, is stunning - its playable, absolutely breathtaking, and very fun. Bring your camera and try to not slow down the brisk pace of play.

It's a great golf course in an unbelievable location and it is maintained beautifully. Believe me, I'll be back.
