Played twilight yesterday and the greens were far from terrible and probably in best shape I’ve seen them this year. Birdie “The Rock” with a smooth 4-iron to about 10 feet and canned the putt! This was my fifth time playing Oak Quarry and can’t say enough good things about the course. The visuals are amazing! Every holes has it’s own personality. Just a great course worth every penny.

The course was in good shape, exept for the greens. They are terrible right now and are not worth paying for. I would wait at least a 2 weeks. Unless you like to tribble your putts like Kobe! I liked ... Continue »

I liked the golf course, the views are breath taking and what a cool design of an old rock quarry. Just got a bad day to play not worth my drive.

Played May 1st, the day my handicap index went up a full point. Still didn't help....I lost $20.00. It wasn't the course's fault. Oak Quarry is a real diamond in the rough. It's hard to determine if the guy that looked at the land where Oak Quarry is carved out is certifiably crazy or not, but - it certainly took some imagination to fit in all of the holes out there.

A agree with what another poster said, it's not that difficult of a track. The par-fours are not overly long, and the par-fives derinitely have some reward if you are willing to risk the big shot. The problems come if you are not in the fairway. Or in one of the many Oak Quarry bunkers....which seem to have been placed in exactly the right places to qualify me personally for some sort of sand-trap shot record!

As for the gentleman who said he "scrounged around" on the course for an extra ball to finish the round - a word to the wise for all: If you put your ball out in the weeds or up on a hillside....let it lie there. Especially with Summer approaching. That place is rattlesnake central - and - the baby ones may not have their rattles yet, but are just as deadly. If you feel that you just HAVE TO risk your life to retrieve that brand new Pro-V 1 that you just put on the hill....be smart....take your three-iron with you for snake protection. They are out there, (we saw 'em!) - and unless you are a degreed herpetologist and know your garter-snakes from your California Diamondback - stay out of the weeds!!

Greens were nice, fairways were lush, rough was not too long, but long enough that you will want to stay out of it.

Oak Quarry is fast becoming my number one choice for public golf in So. Cal.

Having only played the course once, I can certainly say that this place is an "eyeful". I can not find another course with such diverse conditions. The only two other courses that compare with the elevation chagnes are Triology and Coyote Hills. I was lucky to have been with a four-some and did not have to wait for as long a some previous golfers. My round was only 4 hours on a Friday. All groups kept up the pace infront of as well as behind. I agaree that the greens were dreadfully slow and that OB's were a constant threat. However, if you want to play a safe course, you would not necessarily pick Oak Quarry. Being a 20+ handicapper, I would certainly suggest that everyone play this course but be prepared to bring plenty of golf balls, I had to scrounge on the course to find an extra ball to finish the round. This is not for the faint of heart, especially the siganture hole! Fortunately, as with others, I did not find it terrible crowded and it played fairly quickly. But as it becomes more and more popular, I am sure that the times may extend well beyond 4.5 hours per round. If that happens, take your time; look at the scenery and watch out for coyotes roaming the fairways.

The carts are equipped w/ gps that gives you yardage to front, middle and back of the greens. Very affordable rate considering the quality and beauty of the course ($65 weekday). A must play.

Not worth the price when the greens were in as bad of shape as they were. The course is definitely scenic, but the greens were very bumpy and very slow. We played on a weekday and the weather was beautiful, but for some reason, they decided to water the greens on holes 17 and 18 before we were done with our round, which made the greens even slower. Not helping the fact was somebody who was giving a lesson to a woman who had obviously never touched a golf club, in the group in front of us, while the group behind us kept hitting up on us. Not cool.

The course is fairly easy, the toughest part being the elevation changes and club selection. There are a lot of Lateral Hazards, which is not as punishing as OB when you hit a bad shot into them.

WOW !!! you gotta play it now, green airation is only 2 holes at a time, everything is in great shape, but the two greens under repair, & those arn't bad.

Headed out on a Sunday morning as a single, and was able to secure a time at 12:30. Actually went out about 12:20. Absolutely some of the best views and scenery around! That’s where the fun stopped. 6 HOURS later (actually about 6hrs 10 mins), we completed the 18th in the dusk. Pace of play was, dare I say it, SLOW. 6 groups piled up at the 10th tee, and it never cleared up for the entire 18. The course is a great layout, but not for the timid or beginner golfer.
