I play this course quite frequently as it is a tremendous value for the $ I found the course to be in very good shape from fairway to greens, which were above average except for a few "fresh" ball marks. Tee boxes need some work tho. Regarding previous comments on this course I too have experienced problems w/ customer service, mens club, marshalls telling us to hurry up and wait, particularly on weekends! Today we were the 4th group off as a twosome, never once would the "mens'" group in front of us look at us and let us play thru. And we fixed 2-3 ball marks per green that they left behind. Clue to course, it's not new players that are the problem, or the marshall on the course today, as he was very nice. ITS YOUR MENS CLUB!!!!! I will return as it is one of my favorite courses, but I think they have already pissed off more people than they know! Also quit over booking on the weekends and then blaming it on Click4teetimes, as it is nott their fault but YOURS!!!

I actually received a call from the Pro-Shop Manager in relation to the treatment that my foursome had received from members of his staff (see post below). It is good to know that someone at the course is interested in ensuring that each customer gets treated with respect. Unfortunately my image of Soboba Springs is tainted and it is unlikely that I would golf there in the future.

As a relative new comer to the game of golf I am disgusted with the treatment I received at Soboba Springs Golf Course on August 21/04.

My foursome teed off early Saturday morning, after completing two holes we were approached by the course marshal with an option:

-Stand by while three groups from the men’s club played through
-Begin the round over again at the next available time

At this point in our round our foursome was not holding any other group up. Although relatively new to the sport I know full well about the courtesy rule of letting faster groups play through. On this day it is my opinion that only one of the three men’s groups that we were forced to let play through would have had any chance of catching us. In fact the last of the three groups was a group of 5 (2 walking) and held us up on each and every hole for the rest of the round.

After a 45-minute wait, we continued to play a round of golf on a course that was not in the greatest shape, the fairways were soggy and the tee boxes were poor at best.

When our round was complete we inquired as to why we received this type of treatment, at that time the only explanation from the Pro-Shop (Sherman) was that we should have known better than to bring beginners to their course on the weekend. This is unacceptable; if Soboba Springs wishes to only cater to experienced golfers then they should clearly state this prior to allowing anyone tee off (Weekend or Not).

After this experience I will never golf Soboba Springs again, I am certain there are other courses in the area that are in better shape and have staff that know how to treat paying customers with respect.

My experience at Soboba Springs was awful. The serivce at this course was unacceptable. First I was told the course was in "Championship form" Let me tell you, that was an exaduration! Second, I was told fivesomes were only permitted on Wednesdays (actually you can find that info on this website). That too was a lie. My group was held up on Saturday morning (peak time) to let the "mens group" play through. After watching the first two groups go bye, I watched the last group with five people (with two men walking) hack the course to pieces. This was the longest time golfing I ever spent (5+ hours). I kick myself for not walking off the coursse and getting my money back. My friend spoke with "Sherman" in the club house afterwards and was simply ignored. I will never golf this course again! This is a public course that is being operated as if it were private.

Poor Customer Service

My group of four had a tee time for early Saturday morning. We were going to be late, so we called ahead and let them know. We showed up 5 minutes late. We finally got to the tee box of the third hole and were told by the Marshall to either stand aside and let the Men's Club play through, or we could go back and restart our round. There were 3 groups in the Men's Club, so we opted to stand aside and let them play through.
45 Minutes Later, we were permitted to Tee Off. Note that we were told that groups of 5 were not allowed. The last group had a group of 5, and 2 of them were walking! This was unacceptable, as we were held up the entire day and were not permitted to play through.
After our round, we approached the starter, Sherman, and we were told that he made the decision, and even though he could not go out to the course and see our play, he took it from the people behind us (men's club) who called and complained that we were taking too long on the first 2 holes, so he had no other choice but to hold us back.
It was unacceptable to take paying customers off the course and treat them unfairly, just to keep the Men's Club happy.
Apparently, they also do not accept beginner golfers there as well. The starter told us that we should have known better than to bring a new golfer with us at a peak time, such as Saturday morning.
Granted he didn't have a good round, but we kept the group moving, and not once did they have to wait for us.

Played at 9:30 this morning. Payed $35 thanks to a the discount offered on this very website. The starter was very nice and gave us a large bucket of balls on the house. Tee times were running a little behind because of a tournament and because of the men's club, but it only set us back twenty minutes. Not very crowded, especially for a Saturday morning. Most groups were threes and foursomes (except for the group behind us which was unfortunately a twosome). Speed of play was a little slow as the two groups in front of us refused to play ready golf. The round was about 5 hours; not terrible but definately not good. Course was in decent shape, though in light of the internet reviews and posts on this website, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting more out of a top 25 rated course by this website. On this website it's rated above an 8, yet Industry Hills' Babe course is under a 7 and is in overall better shape; this makes no sense. The tee boxes today were poor, the fairways were not great and were many times soggy. The only saving quality about this course were the greens. They weren't fast, but they weren't slow either. There were some challenging breaks and they rolled true and were VERY receptive. Other than the greens, the course is not above an 8. I would give the greens a 9 and the rest of the course a 4 or 5. With all of that said, the course layout is excellent. This course from the tips has some challenging driving holes. For a long hitter like myself, I only could hit driver a handful of times. Most fairways pinched or doglegged were my drives would carry, so I had to use my 3 wood, or my hybrid 2 iron. That ended up being a godsend because keeping the ball in play on this relatively tight track helped my score. I only hit two drivers on it's five par 5's. Ended up shooting one over par, and I enjoyed the challenges off the tee. You really have to work the ball if you hit the ball over 270 on this course. Will come back because of the price. Like other feedbacks,this course is very good.Played w/golfextracard and got a 10 dollar replay after 2pm.36 holes of golf for 25 bucks,where can you beat that.Have fun and play from whites if you are not a 10 handicapper or below,its still a tough enough test.I wish some of these newer courses had geens like Soboba.Only bad part is the drive to the course but still worth it!!

A wonderful course design and in very good condition. For some reason though, it seems to attract a lot of doofusses who have never played golf before. We've been paired with guys who admit it's the "first time they've played a full-sized course." Give me a break, fellas! It's a tough track, with lots of water, rough and trees. Go to Birch Hills if you just learned how to grip the club! The lack of customers out there seems to be a draw to bring out one's brother-in-law for his first time on the links, at least on weekends, which is when we usually play there. It's a long way to drive to play with someone who whiffs a lot.

Played twilight on Saturday $15 with cart. What a great deal. This is a fun flat course thats in GREAT shape. 3 Par 5's in a row on the back 9. I will play again.
