Walked the back tees today 9/3/24 under cloudy skies in the high 60s/low 70s with a club and a half wind. Joined by 3 nice older gentlemen from the VC area. Our POP behind 2 tournaments was 4 hours 45... Continue »

The running joke around RR is this is the shortest par 4 in Ventura County.
126 from the whites and just 148 from the blacks and you would think Easy par 3 on paper, but definitely NOT. It plays directly into the wind and being hole 15 Almost always has a stiff ocean breeze blowing straight into your face. The real trouble is The Green. optical illusion makes it look fairly flat, but it slopes severely from right to left, and from back to front. When the pin is red and the greens are running over 12, it's almost impossible to stop a ball coming from the right side, and after you watch a ball roll for ever down that slope, it's almost impossible to get up enough nerve to stroke a ball hard enough to reach the hole going back uphill making this undoubtedly the easiest 3 PUTT on the course. There's virtually no gimmies putting this green. Anything under 3 on this little bear and I walk away with a grin.

Very tricky hole,
This fairway is a side hill fairway that slopes hard left to right, and with the normal ocean breeze blowing left to right to aim at the 150 pole in the middle is good for a draw, but I would say think about where you want your ball to land. And if you hit straight or have a fade it will really tail off right into some fairly long rough and lots of little trees. With a fade you want to aim almost to the left OB stakes. After the tee shot is over, comes a very interesting approach. Whatever you do, do NOT go for the middle of the green, with anything but a wedge. It's downhill and usually a pushing wind with a green that slopes to the back. It is Very easy to go over, and If you go over it will punish you. Aim short and left and let the green take your ball to the pin. Left to right is very pronounced on this green.
