Played here first off on Tuesday. Finished in about 3.5 hours Really fun course and besides the greens is in great shape. From tee to green very green and lush conditions. Very minor dried out areas nor many muddy areas For this time of year outstanding lushness of grass. Some of the tee boxes were slightly unlevel but nothing bad. Sand was inconsistent. Texture was more coarse and needed more sand in the bunkers but not bad. Greens were almost recovered from a punch. The balls were rolling fair, the main issue was there greens were still a little shaggy and hadn't been mowed tight and rolled enough yet. Maybe a week or so the greens will finish healing and firm up and the course will be much more challenging and enjoyable. Really fun track. Not too tight. Great conditions and a fun closing. Always worth a play.

My third (and final--yeah, I know, slow day for me) round today was at Legend Trail. It was only $27 (+ tax) in the afternoon. I called ahead and they said it was pretty open out there as expected. There were some folks out on the course by the time I teed off around 2:30. I played through two twosomes on the front and then zipped through until about the 14th hole when I ran into a back-up. I ended up joining the threesome ahead of me as we played the rest out behind a slower threesome in front of us. Still, the total pace of about 2:40 was fantastic. The course was in very nice shape all around and they didn't seem to have any noticeable storm damage here. The tee boxes, fairways and rough were all very lush and had good coverage throughout. A few weak spots here and there, but easily the best-conditioned course I played today--at least from tee to green. The bunkers were very good, as well. The greens were actually very nicely kept and consistent. It's just not the greatest summer turf as it's a very grainy and coarse bermuda (maybe it's a hybrid or something else altogether?). It is a very deep green color and not the crusty summer bermuda you find a lot of other places. They rolled fairly smooth and held shots well, but were just really slow. Many of the hole cuts were dried out and scruffy around the edges, so it looks like they probably hadn't changed hole positions in a day or two. This course was definitely a pleasant surprise as it's not one you hear much about in the loaded Scottsdale golf landscape. However, I was intrigued knowing it was designed by Rees Jones. Having played Quintero the day before, which is Mr. Jones at his most dramatic, the front nine at Legend Trail is definitely his softer, gentler and subtler side. The front nine is solid, but nothing too distinctive. The back nine perks up a lot and gets much more interesting from hole 11 on. I really enjoyed this side with a lot of target golf, risk/reward lines, some minor changes in elevation and more trouble in play. As a summer value pick, I'd easily recommend it. I know they're prices go up a lot in season, so any value at that point is all relative to the expensive high-end Scottsdale golf scene.

Played here Sunday morning for $45 at 6:45 AM (They have last minute dynamic pricing and snagged a deal since this is a $150 rack rate course) Great practice facilities, great range, free balls, helpful staff and starter. Course was in great shape. Due to the season only minor flaw were yellow patches and some dried out areas, and patchy grass growth surrounding the bunkers but that is nit picking. Super picturesque desert course with moderate difficulty. Greens were firm but not concrete firm. Greens were a notch above medium fast nothing difficult. Only downsize was the greens did not break the amount they look or should have in my opinion. They had moderate undulations nothing serious. I normally putt well and like to think I am good at reading greens but for whatever reason they did not break the way they looked to the eye, as myself and our group struggled. The bunkers were well maintained and consistent, nice medium fluffy sand making getting out easy (I had 2 sand saves today) The layout here is awesome. It is definitely a tighter desert track without being too tight. There are wide enough landing areas but if you are not straight with you driver you will be pulling cactus out of your behind like I was in the front nine. The course is not very long, the tips are only 6845 yards, and I was driving it through the landing areas because I have been bombing my drives recently. The course does not have GPS in the carts which is crime in a desert course like this. I think I could have been more strategic if I knew the distances of the fairways better. You will need a range finder to play here. The tee boxes were always extremely level. You will have forced carries on every drive but not more than 150 yards so they don't come into play. There are no blind tee shots. The course has some very unique and interesting layouts of their holes. Especially their short par 4's and par 5s. Most of the par 5's have a risk reward forced carry over a wash on the 2nd shot. The par 3's are strong here. There are no short ones from the tips. Advice I would give to this course is to play the standard par 4's more conservatively and try to leave the driver in the bag. Then play the final short par 4 and par 5's aggressive as they are the easiest holes on the course. You can easily go driver iron into them with a decent drive. The finish of this course is what really makes it fun and exciting. The course finishes par 5, par 5, par 4. Thumbs up! I highly recommend this course as it is just a step down from the premier courses in the area but is only a moderate challenge and a great true desert track without being too difficult.

Played Legend Trail during the last week of December 2017. Difficult target golf placing the priority on hitting the ball straight. Played the copper tees at roughly 6,000 yards, which was plenty difficult despite the 123 slope.

Conditions: Excellent. Greens were smooth and rolled well. Not super fast but not slow either. Fairways had some yellow, but no bare spots anywhere. Bunkers had a good amount of sand.

Service: Friendly pro shop, bar, and on course staff.

This is a nice course to play when in the area, especially with their discount last minute pricing. Much cheaper to book here in the last 3-4 days before the date of play.

I played here Saturday, 8/8 around 0918. The course was slightly busy but not jam packed. The rate was $36 off GN including range balls.
The driving range was chewed up and it was hard to find decent grass to hit off. The balls were also chewed up and looked ancient. I wasn't expecting brand new range balls but for a higher end course I was expecting balls not cut, shattered, or falling apart. The balls we could hit were also hard as a rock.
The course was in good shape save for many of the tee boxes not level. Most of the par 3's and some of the 4's were in this condition. Fairways were nice save for a few bare spots but it is August in AZ. The greens were also in good condition and consistent through the round. Pins were set in some difficult spots especially for a Saturday afternoon.
The course isn't overly long but will challenge you to make accurate drives. Desert areas surround each hole and finding your ball in them is next to impossible. The par 4's are all varying lengths with a few calling for something less than driver. The par 3's are fun and also varying lengths. The back nine features back to back par 5's with both being challenging.
The course is scenic as it goes through the desert. Customer service was great.

Played from the silver tees at 6400 yards, a bit challenging but playable if you keep your ball in the fairway. Some pretty long carries over natural desert with the longest being just at 200 yards. Not a traditional desert course however, most be 10,000 homes at various spots throughout the course which eclipse some dramatic scenery of the local mountains. You will however have a good chance of viewing the local wild life as on this day we saw several Bobcats up close and personal with one strolling with little concern about 20 yards ahead of us on the cart path.
Spectacular conditioning of tee-boxes, fairways and greens. The bunkers here are deep and quite penal in nature, with a nice medium density sand that provides far but difficult recovery in fairways and reasonable save chances at green side. Rough is nothing to difficult to recover from but can be tricky if your ball strays too far off line.
Only down side here is the course lacks a little bit of imagination and many holes are of the same variety. Staff is friendly, and helpful, cart girl made her rounds by three times and you are provided with a good distance sheet with pin locations and yardage range to center of green. One other concern here is pace of play was rather slow with waiting times of up to 10 minutes on several tees, ( caused by the PGA Tour Pros waiting on each tee to hit the ball 150 yards) YOU GET MY DRIFT.
Overall course presents a good challenge for your skills and would be another most play if in the area.

Once again great course great people in the clubhouse. 110 in Scottsdale 91 at the golf course whick made for a enjoyable round. A must play if your in the Phx area.

Played 8th October 2012 Course was in great shape had recently been reseeded and was lush throughout however this reduced any carry or rollout. The course was being protected so cart paths only which made for some long walks at times. First experience of the "Desert Rule" - if in the scrub play where it crossed the last green spot and take a penalty. Nice course, you need to pay attention more to the postcard style yardage book and hit to the landing areas. These short par four holes get you every time, take less club put the ball to a landing area keep the driver in the bag.
