Today I drove 45 minutes from Oakland for an 11:33 tee time. It was chaos when I arrived, golfers milling about and no one seemingly in charge. The wait for a cart was at least 40 minutes maybe longer, I don't know because I left in frustration. There were apparently plenty of carts in the parking lot as reported by other golfers due to a large number of people with their carts socializing in the parking lot. Too late in my case an employee was sent to herd these people to return their carts. After many months dealing with the new normal and this is the best they can do? So buyer beware, go early or wait I guess.

Second round of three today was at Lone Tree. Another one to check off the list! We used a Groupon deal that worked out to around $41 a player, but included range balls (which we didn't use) and lunch. We ate lunch afterward in the bar and the food was actually very good (I recommend the chicken tacos). Very friendly staff overall. They warned us of a big weekly senior shotgun group that was out on the course, so they had us start on the back nine around 9:40. We quickly caught up to some groups on the front nine and hung back, then we skipped around a bit on the front nine to avoid logjams and that saved us a good half hour of waiting around. Total pace right around 3.5 hours, so not bad with a little creative routing.

Course was in pretty mediocre condition. Tee boxes adequate enough to tee it up and find a flat spot. Some fairways were much better than others, but all had some spotty coverage. Rough also patchy with a lot of bare spots. Like Deer Ridge, a lot of bumpy ground here, so it was tough when the ball sat down in a low spot. I wasn't in any bunkers, but my friend was in a couple and said they were rock hard. The greens were a mixed bag. Some were actually pretty nice with firm, medium-fast surfaces. Others had repair patches they were trying to fix. Looked ugly, but mostly played fine. Then, a few greens were completely scalped and dormant. These were faster and firmer, and obviously looked awful, but I guess it shows they may be putting in some effort to basically start over and restore some of the more damaged greens.

Just an okay course in mediocre condition. Nothing too exciting on the back nine, kind of a back and forth muni feel. Front nine has some more minor changes in elevation and more character overall, but still not anything to write home about. Seems to get plenty of play, especially with Roddy Ranch having been closed a couple years now. Too bad because that was a much better course than this one.

Played on 9/4/16. Used their Labor Day special $45.00 cart, lunch & range balls. Their golfers lunches are especially good there. The proshop staff and restaurant/bar staff are always friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the fairways were not is the best of shape, there were some bare spots and the bunkers for some reason were quite wet and hard packed. The greens were in good condition and rolled true. Pace of play was very good, we had a 5 some and finished in 4 hrs. 16 min.

Played here Sunday, March 20th. Deal was $40 for golf, cart and sit down inside lunch. Plenty worthwhile deal. Conditions were fair but no complaints due to deal. But...we followed a tournament as the foursome in front were hacking away but somehow were not falling behind. Five hour round. Sprinkled a bit towards the end but we survived. Rough was very long making it hell finding balls in the rough. Probably had a big part in slowing down play. Never had this happen before. We will find a lost club here and there but this time we found a whole set, bag and all laying near the fairway. It was a young girl's set so she probably just decided enough was enough.

Hi guy’s, Played on Sat the 1st at 7:16 am, for a great email special of only $38 w/cart. The course was in splendid shape from tee thru fairways. A handful of the greens have contracted some fungus, especial #2. Contacted Ron Parish, director of golf. He was nice enough to respond, as is his quote. “Regarding greens, the poa annua portion got stressed by an aggressive practice of verticutting combined with a spurt of winds, and warm temps and water that couldn't keep up. We've done some things the last few days to get their health back so you should see marked improvement. #2 did get hit very hard so we sodded a few areas out and it's recovery will take a longer time”.
The ruff is ruff. I mean it is not long but is thick & really lush. I’ve said before, come in steep with an iron that you can get the most distance out of, take your medicine. Sometimes you can get a hybrid thru if you’re lying on top……. So, overall course in very good shape. Most greens were very good too. Service is excellent from the pro shop that is well stocked with plenty of equipment and logo apparel too. To the very nice bar & grill with great service from the cart girls. Look for Jo, she is a joy and a hec of a golfer herself. She always has a funny story or comment. Hahaha Sign up on their web page for the weekly specials and go have some fun with a couple of buddies, or the girls………………

Wow,,,, Lone Tree looks as good as I have ever seen it..Tee through the fairways. Will get to the green’s later… we played on Sat 3/23, on a great day with nice sunshine & very little wind. $39 from their email special…. Tee boxes have been spruced & TLC’d….. Very little divet damage and every tee has a flat spot to get good footing & stance. The fairway’s were tapped off, and over seeded during the winter in area’s that needed extra work & have come back very well…… Stay out of the ruff!!!! d%mn , it is thick & lush & long. Go in with an iron & stay steep…. Haha. The bunkers seem to have new & fresh sand. Very consistent & I was in a few….. The greens are still coming back slowly though. They were very firm & most of our 4some’s shot’s ended on the back part of the green until we adjusted. But, they are also still sandy and sloooow from their aerifacation early in the month. Probably another 2 weeks. We all had a hard time reading the grain & speed combo…And, I am going to have to ask the question. What grass is used on the greens???? This is one of my favorite course's..... See you there soon Kevin

$49.00 special included green fees, cart, lunch and sleeve of Pinnacles. Played last Sunday, tee time was 10am but was able to tee off at 9:30am. Overall, course in good conditions from tee box to green. This course is a rolling course that is playable for all players. Not many hazards nor bunkers, some doglegs. Not really that interesting of a course layout but a good overall value. The restaurant is very good. The lunch menu for the deal was limited to six items but we tried the hamburger and chicken tacos and they were excellent. Clubhouse is nice, parking lot big, convenient as is the driving range (hit off of mats). Course is solid but not sexy and is a great value for $49.00 weekend golf including the delicious food. They also have a full bar and hdtv's.

I have played this course once before, but it was years ago, and apparently not worth remembering because I didn't realize it until I mentioned it to a friend after my round. The day started out with an hour and a half frost delay, so there was a shotgun start at 9:30am. The starter handled everything very well, and was able to fit me in with a 3some to start off the first tee. I'm not sure why, but this course was boring to me. Think straight drives into sometimes blind fairways, and approaches uphill. Repeat that over and over. Par 3s were all pretty easy and similar looking. There's no water in play on the course, and the bunker placement was mildly challenging. Overall, this is a muni course with a few more hills.

Tee boxes- Overall pretty good shape for winter. A few were sloped but nothing too drastic.

Fairways- Also in pretty good shape for winter. Although soft, carts were allowed on them. No major divot damage, just some muddy areas.

Greens- Not in great shape. They had a lot of rough bumpy areas, a little bit of ball mark damage. Rolled a little slow. Also, some of the pin placements were comical (hit past the hole to have it roll back in), but this isn't something I will count against the green rating.

Overall, I didn't like the course because it was a little too boring and bland. The pictures on the website sold me, but I felt tricked, it doesn't look that nice right now. I think there are better quality options in the same price range in the area (Deer Ridge, Roddy Ranch).

Played last Sunday, nice day but almost a five hour round at 10:00am. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in pretty good shape but hard to get a rhythm going when foursome ahead is hitting tee shots left and right and short from the blue tees. However, foursome in front of them were holding them up. No marshal in sight. Saw drink cart a couple of times but had a long wait at the turn anyway. Greens were in decent shape but there were bumps and unfixed ball marks. Carts in good condition. Layout is ok but really not too exciting. We play here when we have a fivesome.
