Took a trip up to Northern California to play in a tournament but wanted to stop and play Plumas Lake on the drive up on 5/29/16. A buddy of mine picked me up at the airport and off we went. Plumas is about a 35 minute drive north from Sacramento airport and is in the middle of nowhere. Very rural. You drive up and find many old trees and a parking lot which is not paved. We walked up to the old clubhouse and got right out around 1:00 pm. $35 w/cart. A warm afternoon and very few players were out there which allowed us to get around in about 3 hours.

The course is a bit dry. A lot of brown spots out there but fairways were good. Tee boxes were just ok. They had some wear but very playable. Sand traps were damp but also playable. Greens which were Bermuda, were the best thing about the course. Rolled really nice and held shots very well. Some undulations but they were not difficult to read.

The course is lined with many old trees and for the most part is flat. A couple of holes have elevation changes but nothing extreme. They do have a few dog legs. Not a difficult track and pretty average. Nothing flashy but we enjoyed it. The large trees give the course a lot character but that’s about it. This is not a course that would draw you back to play again but if traveling through on highway 70, it’s worth a stop.
