Had the pleasure of playing here yesterday with captrichs and an old friend of Sixpez. Paid a great rate of $45 with cart to play. Warm afternoon in Woodland but plenty of water was available all round. Nice snack shop in the middle of the course and nice clean modern bathrooms as well. Place was busy and POP was 4H and we waited a few times but POP was acceptable for a Friday afternoon. Course was opened in 1919 with 9 holes added later. And for you pilots there is a small airport with a 3700 foot runway and all facilities adjacent to the course. Course is an old style parkland course with bermuda fairways and what appears to be bermuda greens. Plenty of trees, bunkers and 1 par 3 with water. Rough is deep and penal. Great mixture of 3,4,5 holes and various lengths for all players of all skills. I found the tee boxes to all be excellent and they have B, W, Combo W/G and R to accomodate all players skills. Fairways were very nice. Clean and mowed giving good lies and great rollout. As mentioned above rough is deep and takes a good powerful swing to advance the ball. Traps were a mixed bag. Was in a few and found some to be crusty/hard and others to have good decent sand. And there are plenty of them. Greens are good size. Some elevated from fairways and some not. They are in good shape, virtually no divots (nice to see) and chipped/putted just fine and with good speed. Great customer service in the pro shop. Good carts but you need your own GPS. They have a restaurant on site which we did not visit but it looked very nice. I would recommend this course with no hesitation. Yes it is private but I think if you called the course you might not have any issues getting on. It's not your "stuffy" private course by any means. From those that I saw playing and manner of dress it looks pretty laid back.
