amazing! that's what i feel when i read all the negative posts about brookside. what is amazing is that so many of you are finally coming around to my way of looking at this golf course. it stinks! the city and american golf have let it go to pot, they allow 5-somes and the staff blows! those of you that post "it's in great shape" have obviously not played anywhere else. you can buff a turd only so much. not until more people like the previous posts start submitting these responses to the rose bowl management committee (the people of the city that control brookside) nothing will be done. i used to play brookside all the time, i grew up there, but i won't go back. it's a wonderful layout that could be great with vast improvements in condition and management. sadly, it's up to the city and they don't want to raise greenfees. speak out and maybe something can be done.

First time playing Brookside and course was in decent shape for mid-summer.

Positives: receptive greens, moderate gree fees and ample yardage markers on the sprinkler heads.

Negatives: no marshals on a Sunday to monitor play, beverage cart non-existent, and tee markers were consistently placed on uneven ground.

Overall, good value but typical American Golf short comings.

I think all those big cats at Annandale CC in Pasadena who I used to caddy for should get their funds together and buy out American Golf and the city of Pasadena. Then plow the whole d%mn property over and build an entirely new facilitya nd keep it to just 18 holes. Push the yardage over 7500 from the back and sprawl the course over the whole property. Lets call up steve wynn and tell him to build a friggin casino next to it.

Then raise the green fee ten dollars and take no more than a threesomes for reservations. That way there might be room for a twosome waiting on the list and, of course, the army of single golfers just dying to squeeze in on a regular basis. Ban the fivesome groups. Hire some paid rangers to keep the pace up. Fire them if they can't do their job. If old men (American Golf Rangers) want to roam the golf course in a golf cart in exchange for free golf, they'll have 300 to 400 other American Golf Corp. courses around the world to do it at. But not Brookside!!!!!.....not anymore!!!!! If someone would just come in here and buy out everyone and fix eveerything Golf in Pasadena could be saved!!

Convince George C. Thomas's family to release some of his secret designs never built and lets put together a layout that can attract a US OPEN or at least a NATIONWIDE TOUR event.

Well maintained overall and worth the reasonable green fee. Course is located next to famed Rose Bowl with some holes virtually next to the stadium.

Brookside remains one of the better maintained municipal courses. #1's layout offers good variety despite the neary flat site. No contrived piles of dirt faking terrain.

Played 5-13-05. The course is in the best shape I have ever seen. Of course, they're getting it ready for the Pasadena City Championship. Nevertheless, they've done a really good job. The tee boxes are far better than they've been in the past, and while not perfect, they are much better. The fairways are lush, and the greens are in very good shape. They've always had a problem with fungus here, but there's no trace of that now. Now is the time to get out here!
