The fairways were softer than in times past. I still had a few too many hardpan lies, however. They did a good thing in adding fairway bunkers on 18 to keep balls from rolling into the lake. The layout here is wonderful. It is too bad that I will not come back for a while. The round took 5 hours to play. On a Monday this is unacceptable. Is it too much to ask to think of those behind you ?????

Haven't played here in about 2 years and was pleasantly surprised. Layout is very challenging but conditions became poor after course had been opened for a year. Fortunately that has been reversed and everything was excellent. Lots of maintenance people at work which is always a good sign. Very few bare spots on fairways and greens rolled very true. Only criticism is that fairways are cut very, very close so that tee shots just keep rolling. My drives averaged about 20-30 yards longer than usual which meant that I was hitting short irons on many holes. If I had known about the fairway roll I would have played longer tees. Senior rates are $52 but my playing partner complained that instead of being in place M-F, they are only valid M-W.

It was worth the green fee, since I paid $50. A friend received a discount through email. It was my first time there and I had many things before. My only thing I would change about the course is the type of grass. It was manicured and in great shape, but I prefer grass that gives you somewhat of a lofty lie. The greens were firm and that makes you play this course like a links course, when you you have fairways like this course does. We played on a Monday and the pace was perfect. The regular rate is $65 dureing the week, and I still think that is a great deal.

The course is in very nice condition. Having played here a number of times before, I have come to expert the very tight fairways, which makes this course play much shorter than it's yardage. Once you accept the fact that is the way the fairways are designed, (which I know many players do not prefer) you have to be fair as to rating their condition. The staff was fantastic, always very accomodating. This is a fun course with a number of good holes. The recent e-mail special made playing for $45 well worth the price.

This was the first time I played Arroyo Trabuco. I was very pleased with the course. I liked the layout. The conditions were great. Customer service was excellent and the pace of play was fantastic. I played on the $60 special, so the day was perfect.

Played today 5.24 on an email special ($60 after 10 am). The course is a bit dry, but I was pleased overall with the conditions (especially for the price).

First time playing this course and wasn't all that impressed. There is really no rough, only fairway or OB/environmentally sensitive areas. The ground is very hard and fairway lies are EXTREMELY tight. Sand traps were hard and rocky. I was pretty neutral toward the layout as no hole was particularly memorable or visual appealing but none were objectionable either. I enjoyed the round but probably would not return at $94 for a weekend rate.

Played in the late morning on Wednesday, 5/7/09, on a warm sunny day with only light breezes. Course was in very good condition and we started on time and play moved OK. Many opportunities to lose balls in the natural areas surrounding most holes. Greens were firm but in good shape and moderately fast. Fairways tight as always, bunkers in good shape. Saw cart girl twice. Plenty of water available, and saw a ranger frequently. Recommended.

I played here yesterday. Pace was good--never had anyone behind or in front of us. It might be because the course is overpriced at $65. The greens were nice and rolled true, but the fairways are still dormant. The problem with the course is that hitting from the fairway is like hitting off concrete. The rough, which really isn't rough at all, provides a little bit of grass underneath the ball so it's easier to hit. This is the only course I know where it's a penalty to hit the fairway. The fix on 18 was a good one. Shots hit down the middle with even a little draw ended up in the water, but no they don't. The new traps are an awful long way from the tee box that they are unreachable for all but the longest hitters. As always, the customer service is very good. The marshal came around regularly, although he didn't need to.
