Played Saturday morning off about 20 minutes prior to sunrise. Despite the darkness, there were still a number of golfers waiting to go. The only positive was maintenance was already out so did not have to "battle" the mowers or cup changers.

Still have a temporary green on #2, but they have finally opened #5. The rest of the greens seem to be recovering nicely. Fairways, rough, tee boxes and bunkers in particular are all in good shape.

Amazing that the South course is adjacent to the North course and the conditions of the two course could not be more different. Greens on the South are fair at best, thin, patchy, bare spots, etc. ... Continue »

Amazing that the South course is adjacent to the North course and the conditions of the two course could not be more different. Greens on the South are fair at best, thin, patchy, bare spots, etc. In fact holes #2 and #5 are temporary greens and in truth there should be at least two others used as temps. Many of the tee boxes are thin and bare are well. I elevation on the South is lower than the North course, but hard to accept that would account for the difference in their condition.

Fairways are still good and all the bunkers are in great shape. Hoping that once this heat wave passes, conditions will return to normal ?

The greens were punched a couple weeks ago and the majority of the greens have healed nicely, except there are now about 5-6 which have huge areas which are now bare and never recovered from the punching? I've been a member since before the South course opened and I have never seen anything like this on the greens? Hope they address this issue. What surprises me is that they are holding a three day AJGA tournament on the South course beginning Monday. I can not believe the players will be too pleased about the greens. (Should ne hed on the North course anyway, a much more challenging track)

Otherwise the remainder of the course is fine, with a few fairways showing distress due to the excessive heat, but I suspect that is very temporary.

Last day to play the South before they close for a week to do extensive punching of the greens/sand, rough, tee boxes, and fairways. Naturally everything is in great condition now, which is always the case just prior to heavy maintenance.

maybe because of the heat, but almost nobody has been playing these past few mornings. Even the maintenance staff seems "lighter".

I understand they are going to re-sod portions of several fairways which are showing some wear, but honestly I don't see any problem? I guess I shouldn't complain, because at least they are trying to maintain good playing conditions

Where are all the golfers? Arrived at the course just prior to 5am, my usual time, and there were no cars, no people, nobody ? Maybe everyone is staying home to watch the Open ?

Where are all the golfers? Arrived at the course just prior to 5am, my usual time, and there were no cars, no people, nobody ? Maybe everyone is staying home to watch the Open ?

Course is in very nice shape right now. Greens rolling well, fairways green and lush. Bunkers are perfect. Still a few spots in the rough which need attention, but otherwise, no complaints.

Just learned they will begin punching greens/fairways/rough within the next week or so, which always seems to happen when the course is looking it's best?

Played 5/17 super early. Both courses are being groomed for the annual "Windmill Classic" so conditions are excellent right now. Stayed ahead of maintenance, so did not have any mowed greens, but even uncut they rolled very nicely and were reasonably fast The remainder of the course is also in better than normal condition.

To my surprise nobody playing - virtually deserted. (Maybe that's because I teed off so early?)

South Course bunker renovation is finally complete and I have to admit they have done a great job. Despite the fact that almost two acres of sand was removed, the overall appearance and playability of the course has actually improved. Most of the sand which was removed never really came into play anyway (Except for horrible missed shots) and the bunkers which were reduced in size are more playable now.

Greens, fairways looking good, Bunkers are perfect! Still could use some attention to the tee boxes and a few areas in the rough, but overall, course is in nice shape.

With the earlier sunrise, able to tee off now even before 6am, so finishing before 8:30 (walking) is a real treat and allows so much more time in the day for other things.

Bunker project is almost complete. Only two holes remain to be finish the task. The pure white sand contrasts so nicely with the now green of the fairways. Just looks great. They removed almost 20% of the total sand from the course, but it does not affect the appearance or playability of the course.

Greens quick and true. Fairways lush and green. Bunkers, which were always the worst part of the course are now perfect. Now if only my golf game would improve so I can appreciate the course

After fighting frost delays most of February, now it's the rain. For those of you unfamiliar with Coto - south, even just a little rain causes the cross-overs between some holes flood and the course is forced to close. 40 degrees at tee off today (6:40am) and but for the rain there would again have been frost. Just can't seem to win.

To my surprise, a number of the fairways have become very thin and have bare areas near some of the greens?? The greens however are excellent and most receptive to shots. The bunker project is about 50% complete now, so if the weather co-operates, they could finish in a few more weeks.

On the plus side, with the rains, the dormant fairways are turning green and at least look good, even if they don't play as good as they look.
