First out on a cold morning. Not very busy today, perhaps because of the colder temperatures? The greens have recovered nicely, rolled true with decent pace. Generally, the fairways are just fine. Still a few holes that remain carts on path? Tee boxes are good. With the forecast over the next couple days indicating temps in the high 30's, I suspect there will be numerous frost delays, so it was nice to be allowed to play early today.

As mentioned before, greens were aerated when course closed five weeks ago. Course has been open for two full weeks. Greens are still moderately slow and all the greens still show evidence of holes and are somewhat bumpy. Add in some sort of discoloration and you scratch your head as to what is going on. Still cart path only. Winds have dried out fairways a bit. Reasonably good coverage on fairway and you can play the ball down without issue except for the "Indian burial ground" areas that just refuse to grow grass no matter the time of year . Tee boxes have grown in but they get so much wear due to the fact they are so small. Bunkers are still a concern as gravel poking thru in some greenside sand traps. POP was 4 hours. Getting better but expect it will be another 2-3 weeks before we see all around excellent conditions meaning that it's been 5 months of sub par conditions for this so called "private gem". North greens just got punched and it will be about 4 weeks of below average conditions on that course. Membership has been brainwashed into thinking "good" is now "excellent" so new course owner doesn't have to make an effort to improve conditions. Still hitting off worn down mats at driving range. Putting green is by far best conditioned of all greens. 2 ft faster on stimp. Maybe one day we return to the first class experience we are paying all the $ for but I doubt it will be anytime soon.

After having been closed for three weeks, finally able to get back on the South course. The overseeding of the fairways turned out very well, much better than I expected. (Although it will be carts on path for at least 3-4 weeks) The rough is not long, but very healthy. The tee boxes are excellent. The greens have yet to recover, some still patchy and very slow. I suspect within a couple weeks everything will be just fine, except that with the North course now closed, the course will receive a lot of play.

As they prepare to close this course for several weeks to overseed, wanted to make certain I played prior to the maintenance. The greens are OK, but lots of unrepaired ball marks(?) They are very receptive and rolled well. Fairways are in many areas just awful. The portions of Bermude grass are fine, but the rest of the fairways are either thin dead Rye or mud. Worst I've seen since this course opened in 1995. Bunkers are very good, but a few need additional sand, as the underlayment is beginning to poke through. Overall, the general condition is far below what I have come to expect over my 35 year membership here. Disappointing!

Out early as usual on a rather busy Saturday morning. First out so no issues with pace of play. Greens are very soft/receptive, but not as quick as normal. A lot more unrepaired ball marks (?). Tee boxes beginning to recover, but still have a way to go. The fairways are just awful. The rye grass is all burned out and the Bermuda has not taken. Playing the ball "down" now would be really tough. I have been a member for 35 years and have never seen the fairways in worse condition. I understand that the course will be overseeding shortly, but how it was allowed to deteriorate to his condition is inexcusable.

It's been a while since I reviewed the South but conditions have really gone downhill on the fairways and tees. Likely due to the heat, all the winter rye grass died (or went dormant) and there was very little Bermuda base so now there are massive brown patches on fairways. Couple that with nonstop watering which leave mudballs after every shot. Our group has introduced the 5 ft winter rules ball movement to find some green grass. Tee boxes were aerated at least 5 weeks ago but barely any new seed has germinated. Greens look fine, have a healthy amount of grass, but putt very slow, around an 8 on stimp. Too much moisture in greens as you can leave large ball marks which apparently few members know how to fix correctly. Tons of unfilled divot in fairways as well probably from running out of sand in bottles after first few holes. We have brand new owners at Coto who admittedly know nothing about how to run a golf course but it's a "passion investment" for them. The owners initially talked a good game about potential investment into the infrastructure but are now balking when it comes to actually laying out money to make the improvements. Which seems strange for a company that just dropped over $80 million to buy our 36 hole club. I'm sure a dues increase is not far behind. Hopefully they can right the ship before it becomes a dumpster fire.

With the expected heat, nice to get out early and finish quickly. Course remains in nice condition. Greens very receptive. However, I noticed a bunch of unrepaired ball marks, which is not usual for this course? The tee boxes are beginning grow back in, after being over seeded a couple weeks ago. Fairways are really solid right now. Bunkers are fine, but the sand seems "heavy" and tough to play any longer sand shots (Greenside). All in all, very satisfied with the course conditions.

Out early to beat the heat. However, since Covid, the first tee time is 7am, whereas previously I used to hit off in the dark, which meant at this time of year it was around 5:20 or so. But those days are gone, so now I am forced to say out early at 7am. Course is in nice shape, but the greens are not as good as they had been even just a month ago? Fairways, tee boxes, bunkers are just fine. Summers at Coto put a great deal of stress on the courses, but maintenance seems to handle things well, which is greatly appreciated.

First out on what has become a now typical morning of "May Gray" overcast. Not too crowded, which was a bit of a surprise. Both Courses right now are in very good condition as they prepare for the upcoming "Windmill Classic" next weekend. Greens not as quick as usual, but I suspect that will change as we approach next weekend. Fairways have great coverage, bunkers excellent as are the tee boxes.

The 13th green was damaged last week by some kids on E-bikes, which tore up the green quite a bit, but the repairs were done so well, there is not even a hint of the damage any longer. Nice job!
