Played today. Fairways a bit browner than usual. Greens only in aso-so condition due to recent aerating. (When I made the tee time and asked about the condition of the greens, the pro shop had stated that aerating was no longer affecting greens play - which was incorrect.) Fast round in just over three hours. All-in-all, a good course but overpriced for what you get.

The greens have not quite healed, but in another week, ten days they wil be fine. But my rating reflects their current condition. I thought the fairways were rather thin and "spotty", not what you would expect from a "high end" course. Overall the course is in decent condition however. Maybe now that we're getting some heat, the grass will begin to grow and it will return to the condition I remember the course being in.

Played 4/15, fairways were dormant and in terrible shape. Greens still trying to come back from being aerated. Starter very nice, have had problems with the pro shop staff.

Played in less than 4 hours. Great layout.

This is the first time visit because of the 2 for 1 coupon I received @ LA Golf Show. Staffs were excellent. Overall course condition was great other than the greens which were punched two days ago.

This is the first time visit because of the 2 for 1 coupon I received @ LA Golf Show. Staffs were excellent. Overall course condition was great other than the greens which were punched two days ago.

We finished 1st round in 3 1/2 hours and replayed 2nd time.

Played at 7:45 on 3/12. Got out in front of a couple of 4somes. Glad we did too. They were on 13 when we finished 18. Played in exactly 4 hours. Fairways were dormant but the rough was up about 3-4 in... Continue »

Played at 7:45 on 3/12. Got out in front of a couple of 4somes. Glad we did too. They were on 13 when we finished 18. Played in exactly 4 hours. Fairways were dormant but the rough was up about 3-4 inches. Not enough sand in the bunkers. Greens and tees were in good shape. No cart girl. Staff is is not the friendliest. Cart boys were pleasant though. Starter and pro shop not so much. Only way I play here is with a severe discount. Used the 2 for 1 $55. I play here about once every three years. Seems about right.

I played on 3/10/09 and paid $55 with cart. For $55 it was worth playing at strawberry farms. For the full price it is a rip-off. The location is nice but the course is not kept up very well for a $110 course. If you can get on for half the price then I would say do it but never pay full price for this course. Its not worth the money.

Here's the scoop with Strawberry Farms. It is a great layout, but even staff conceded that in an effort to cut costs, overseeding was cut in the last go-round. As a result fairways were uncharacteristically bare or thin in many areas. Additionally, beacuse I'm sure they had 2for1's from the golf show, it got a lot of play and as a result me and my buddies were constantly repairing more than one or two green divots. The greens though were in decent shape however. Rolled smooth a bit quick and on some holes were a bit bumpy. Greens are real greens with two cuts of rough around. Pace of play on a Sunday was fantastic (4 1/4 hours). Staff appeared to be cut back, but was nonetheless friendly and accommodating. Finished my round with a sense that I have played a really great course that was hit by the economic times we now live in. Although I would not recommend paying the rack rate for this course ($160 weekend prime), I would recommend playing a reduced rate and did enjoy my round and would come back.

Played 02/18/09. This course would be wonderful in the summer or early fall, right now it's going through some changes. Fairways are brown and due to the recent rain, you're pretty much sloppin' around in damp grass. The drainage they have in the sand traps is phenominal. I was in most of the greenside traps and they were great, the sand was unbelievably nice and fluffy. The greens had many breaks and the only level spots were two feet away from the holes. Get the Roger Dunn birdie card or the red dot coupon. Both will get you on @ $66 (40% off), they won't give you the twilight rate @ 40% off though. The course is nice, but $110 is a little steep. The 12 noon rate ($75) is more reasonable if you're going to pay the rack rate. One more thing, stay to the right of the fairway on the 14th hole otherwise you'll be hitting off of duck/loon poop.

I played Strawberry Farms with 3 buddies on Wednesday the 14th. Received an email from Roger Dunn's earlier in the week which provided a 50% off coupon for the course. I would not play the course otherwise. $110 dollars is really pricey for this course. But $55 is much much more reasonable. We teed off at 1215 and didn't have a single group in front of us all day. Encountered 2 2-some's behind us and we let them play through. The course was is excellent shape. All except for the fairways. During the winter they change there grass in the fairways to a very dry rye grass which is a very yellow/brown/green color. So from a distance the fairway looks very dried out. But when you are actually out there they are in good shape. Good and true lies everywhere. The greens were in excellent shape. Played in 4.5 hours taking our time. Overall great experience but definitely would only be back for that great rate of $55.
